I mean, this is sorta time sensitive though, yeah?

It already seems like Entertainment will have to remove their two Howl-O-Scream houses and Santa's Workshop from DarKastle before their theoretical new building goes up. No idea where they're planning store all of that stuff, but certainly it woulda been easier if the new facility was already in place to receive it, no? Judging by the original timelines implied by the permit filings, doesn't that seem like that was probably the original plan?

I don't know how long a building like this takes to go from an approved site plan to ready to assemble a Howl-O-Scream house inside of, but we seem to be inching dangerously close to when that could be a concern for HOS 2022. I imagine the building would need to be totally done and ready for entertainment by no later than the end of July/start of August next year, yeah? I think there's definitely still time—but this theoretical timeline doesn't look super comfortable already.

EDIT: Reduced yeahs for @Ice
Like @warfelg said, if the permit is just for a giant warehouse with minimal interior then that will go up very quickly once started. I've seen them do up even faster than warfelg described. The park has plenty of storage to store sets for mazes, just not set up like they leave them in DK. My guess is that construction isn't planned to start until April/May. The park has plenty of other things that are being worked on right now throughout the park. Just one example is the work that needs to be done on the Italy/Germany Bridge. I don't know how much of that was pre-planned or was just discovered recently and has been accelerated to make the necessary fixes ahead of them being necessary. My understanding is that is an extensive project. Then there's all the stuff with finishing off Pantheon and then getting DK going and started. That doesn't count all the smaller capital projects that will take place in January-March throughout the park. This time of year is very busy for D&E

There can be a lot more issues behind the scenes that we don't know about. Right now construction costs have skyrocketed. Acquiring materials has gone from weeks to months for delivery. The cost of those materials has double and even tripled. Many construction companies have enough backlog to carry them for next 2-3 years. I've had contractors turn down jobs because they are too small, not that I consider a $250,000 project small. BG may not want to pay the high inflated prices right now.

There could also be some engineering issues. Stormwater management has become more difficult especially involving nutrient treatment. Some projects can treat stormwater onsite, while other need to buy nutrient credits. Those credits are getting expensive and difficult to acquire. BG does have the benefit of the Rhine, however that facility can only treat a limited amount of stormwater and it currently does not meet the current state stormwater regulations. Hence the reason for the large proposed forebay on the southside of the Rhine for the future Festhaus Park coaster.

Has anyone seen any momentum with this proposal or any related proposals (I don't remember if this particular one was rejected or pulled by the park when Madrid plans changed)?

That's not even counting the work being done on the dam.

One possible question that comes to mind is could this possibly a two year plan. Build it as a roof structure for 2022 and then do a massive retrofit to add walls for 2023 and on. I mean we are basically 6 months away from Howl-O-Scream prep which is a decently tight time frame for the construction. Just a completely wild thought.

It is interesting indeed to see what is planned. I’m just curious where everything is currently being stored. Would the two stations from Drachen Fire still be used for storage? What about Castle O’Sullivan or BforE? Maybe the locations for some of the things at Christmas Town and HOS are going to be moved around.

With this big of a size reduction I get the feeling that this revision means the "facility" will be used only for storage.

Oooo I didn't even think about how creative they will have to get with HoS house placement this year with the loss of DK, the reasonable assumption that DF buildings are off limits, and this building never actually got built. Now that this building is basically just a public park picnic structure, we are looking goooood for some interesting stuff coming up

I am not positive but I think it's likely Royal Palace MAY be free again. Between that and this there would actually be space for one more house then we had in 2021.
