The Village Shops site was sold. It's becoming a nursing home if I remember correctly.
This is also what I've heard.

My understanding is that it will be in this area.

Perhaps the new building could be one large greenhouse to replace what's existing, as well as maybe some other landscaping department things as part of the same building.

As far as I'm aware the new building doesn't have a greenhouse component. My guess is that landscaping is/is going to centralize all of their operations into the current backstage area where their other greenhouses are already located. The landscaping area south of Festhaus Park has already been utilized a lot less lately, so it is likely that process has already begun.

For those who don’t know: they have a number of greenhouses right next to the employee parking lot.

Basically though: It's a BIG new backstage building. Think primarily offices and storage. Sources have been a little vague on whether or not some will also be used for event space, but hopefully that will be a little more clear in the plans when we get 'em.

The permit describes it as:
"Busch Gardens Entertainment Event Building"

Not sure how accurate these permits have to be. I guess DarKastle is considered an Event building as well but is mainly storage as I understand it.

Back when I was working in BGW Entertainment around 2013, a lot of special event props (HOS, CMT) were being stored in a building and CONEX containers located across the street from the brewery side entrance (to the right when entering the overflow parking lots). To my understanding that storage area was leased and I recall hearing that BGW wanted to build their own storage space for those things. Maybe this project is at least partially addressing that.

Assuming it it storage, it is probably another building to house items for special events.

So, it sounds like the office aspects of this plan that I referenced the other day aren't coming to fruition (yet). That said, it means even more space for Entertainment... Which may be even more interesting...

One concern that I have is that the park might try to house 3 or more mazes in this building given its size. The park's Halloween setup is already clustered between Festhaus park and the DK building. Given the crowds that the event draws they really need to encourage people to spread out and make full use of the park.

Yeah, that was one of the reasons I was a big fan of the Aquitaine location back in 2018. They coulda put a house or two there and that really would have done a lot to even out the distribution.

That said, I sorta believe that the likelihood that this new building would ever hold more than two Howl-O-Scream attractions at a time is somewhat slim. The logistics of queue management and whatnot would be really difficult. Maybe, possibly, I could see a world where they do three in there and chain them together like the FHP houses always used to be, but I think they'd avoid it if they could.

Another thing to consider is that there's probably a solid chance that Killarney's sim building is going to be usable by Entertainment for Howl-O-Scream again.

Let's really break this down.

The year is 2022. Battle for Eire is dead. Drachen Spire construction will be in full swing by the start of the summer. Drachen Spire is the park's 2023 addition. DarKastle remains under entertainment's control for now. Looking forward to Howl-O-Scream 2022 in this scenario, Ent has lost Drachen Fire's Station Building and the Woods Maze locations, but has gained a spot in Killarney. A theoretical 2022 house location lineup could look like this:
  1. DarKastle (Frostbite)
  2. DarKastle (Demented Dimensions)
  3. Behind Roman Rapids (Circo)
  4. Under Escape from Pompeii (Dystopia)
  5. Killarney Sim Building (NEW)
  6. Oktoberfest Event Building (NEW)
The year is now 2023. Killarney's Sim building remains empty. Drachen Spire is opening this spring. Design & Engineering has some 2024 plans for DarKastle and they need Ent out before Howl-O-Scream 2023. Since Festhaus Park construction will have been long since done by Howl-O-Scream 2023, Ent has access to the Woods Maze site again. The loss DarKastle's building loses Ent two house locations and also requires that the Santa's Workshop walkthrough and meet and greet be moved to the Oktoberfest Event Building. A theoretical HOS house lineup under these conditions could look like this:
  1. Behind Roman Rapids (Circo)
  2. Under Escape from Pompeii (Dystopia)
  3. Killarney Sim Building (Unknown)
  4. Oktoberfest Event Building (Unknown)
  5. Oktoberfest Event Building (NEW)
  6. Oktoberfest Woods Maze (NEW)
Anyway, what I'm trying to illustrate here is that as long as we assume everything doesn't go offline at once (there's no reason for it to—construction won't be ongoing in FHP at the same time as, say, inside CoDK), BGW shouldn't ever need to put more than two houses in the new event building and house distribution can remain pretty healthy across the park.

Long-term I'd still like to see the Aquitaine event building constructed too though—especially for whenever Ent eventually needs to vacate Killarney's sim building again. We're probably talking 5+ years out at that point though so it's probably not worth much theorycrafting.

I like that theory @Zachary but:

DS/2023 FHP coaster & FHP event space opening in the same season could be better for BGW. Yes the construction will be VERY crowded back there, but opening both at the same time might be better for them because it offers a more seamless transition where things can shift more at the same time as opposed to phases.

Like I would try to time it so the FHPEB is ready to open at the end of a Haunt in the fall so as they take things down from HoS they can just put it in the new building; then the year DS opens is the year of new Mazes and Haunts in the FHPEB.

But in this case you deal with one year of possible temporary roads, bridges, interruptions to the train, the utilities, and land clearing. Then you don't have the added problem of starting it for the two projects then have a year or two of just an ugly levels space.

As we established earlier in this thread, my understanding of this project is a little dated. That said, it has been my impression that this project is moving faster than Drachen Spire. We should get a little better of an idea soon though. How quickly the subsequent filings hit the county will tell us a lot.
