Forgot to mention that Canada’s Wonderland quietly revealed their lineup this year at the park, possibly hinting that announcements for all the Haunts is coming very soon?

Allegedly according to Chrissie on Facebook, all guests will be kicked out at 5PM and then allowed to re-enter at 7PM. As well as lineup information for this year coming out as soon as tomorrow. Does anyone know if there’s any validity to this?

This is the first I’m hearing of this. I don’t see this as anything other than reckless speculation at this point.

Woah! Some interesting stuff here. One question… what is The Queen’s Ball? Last year, Heads Will Roll was on the Grand Bandstand.

Are you all saying that there’s proof that KD could be getting the same show that Carowinds got last year?

"The Queen's Ball" was in the list I've seen. Could be preliminary, could be a misnomer, or yeah, it could be the show from Carowinds. Not sure.

Here you go:
Thank you so much! Yeah my theory is that “21” is just a codename after all and that the maze is similar to The Ruins at Canada’s Wonderland. A maze literally called 21 would only work this year, and I know KD would want to keep the maze for many years

I'm super impressed by KD's Haunt lineup this year. SUPER IMPRESSED.

KD's regional competitors both have smaller events and both have recently experienced cuts to their event scopes. Seeing Kings Dominion add a house to their lineup in that environment is truly a beautiful sight to behold.

No idea what the "21" house is, but the scarezone and show themed to Jungle X should be super interesting. Always love to see new chances for more X lore.

I have a gut feeling that Blackout is going to come back. It’s already up and it’s to cheap to run, yet an effective house.

Also I’m a tad worried about the new maze. I wasn’t able to do Lockdown, but apparently it was very tight and had limited room for theming, so I’m hoping that doesn’t carry over for the new maze

Has anyone considered to possibility of converting Volcano's old queue house into a maze. Can see it being a bit of challenge with ADA compliance and such. But they do have the lower level from the former gift shop they could use. May be a little small though. Could also use both levels. Imagine a two story haunt maze.

Tie it into the jungle X lore and it sounds like an absolute no brainer. Plus, you could give it a temple theme like a temple that wasn’t documented and they stumbled upon while searching. Then it All goes wrong when you go inside.

Tonight's article lead to more.

First off, from what I can tell, there's no plan for Kings Dominion to dump the park before Haunt this year. That could maybe still be in flux I suppose, but I don't think that's the current intention.

Secondly, I'm increasingly believing that the new house's name is actually "21." I still know nothing about theme, but another source is now also referencing "21." Color me intrigued!

Doing some very rough measurements with Google Earth, Volcano's queue house is roughly 72x36. Their purpose built maze structures appear to be roughly 80x40. So it's only slightly smaller. Don't know how accurate google's measurement tools are though.

They're not bad, but the building, in its current state, really isn't setup well to house a maze at all. It has a lot of interior walls and whatnot that would massively limit the usable space. Especially considering the Planet Snoopy, Hypersonic, and Fright of Fear house locations all sat vacant in 2021, I think it would be really difficult to justify investing into a suboptimal structure like Volcano's queue/gift shop. It was a really neat thought though! It hasn't crossed my mind!

I agree in its current state it may not be the most ideal candidate for a maze. If they did chose to convert it, they could take down the current maze in flight of fear and restore the original queue. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe Zombie High was removed to utilize that building for Grand Carnival storage. That however does still leave the vacant Blackout maze as a more ideal location to open a new maze though.

Not to be rude, but this really isn't true. Lockdown had some of the best sets during its run at KD. Lots of the sets were 2 story sets, an electric chair/execution room, prison bunks, and lots more. The only downfall to that was the maze was pretty short due to how big each room was.
Ah ok! I was told by someone that it had barely any theming and was basically just lights on Blackout, but I’m glad to hear that wasn’t actually the case. Sucks I was never able to do it, but hopefully this new house lives up to it

hope the scarezones get expanded expecially uprising and cleaver brothers. cleaver brothers got limited to only one side of candy apple grove and i really didn’t like that. they also didn’t have the props such as the car and things like that but i’m pretty sure the cars been gone for a while. i just hope with the extra staff they can create a more well rounded haunt experience with a more confined and no place to escape feel.

I'm a big fan of the more limited scarezone setups. It makes being inside them feel more emersive and chaotic. It also allows the many people who don't want to experience them a path around them.

To be clear, it has always been my philosophy that people who don't want to experience scares don't belong at an adult Halloween event. Unfortunately, Kings Dominion has ruled that people who don't want to be scared DO belong at their event (no stroller bans, No Boo sales, etc). Hence, the value of easy scarezone bypasses.

right i agree, if they don’t want to be scared then they shouldn’t go. sadly it does mean that scare zones are limited due to the more family friendly feel they’ve given recently.
