Despite it only being February, Halloween Haunt dates have been posted on the website! As of now, the scariest theme park event in the Commonwealth is scheduled to run Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from September 23rd to October 30th.

It has been brought to my attention by a KD Facebook group that Haunt will now close at 11pm on Fridays and Saturdays as of now. I have checked the calendar to confirm. The only midnight closings are during the last weekend.

Scary if this holds. That’ll be the first time I’ve ever seen that.

That would be really annoying. My group is always there till midnight for Haunt. There is usually still a good number of people in the park after 11 from what I can tell, so I don't get why they would do that. That extra hour is extremely clutch if you want to hit every maze, plus a few rides. Really hope they don't stick to this. Just seems unnecessary.

Given the staffing constraints, I imagine that this is unavoidable. But it could also mean that they won’t be able to have as many mazes this year. So, guests might not need as much time to complete everything.

If there's fewer mazes, then each maze will probably have a longer line, yes? Having said that, when I've been to haunt and when I've done a maze or two (I'm too much of a scaredy cat to do more than 1 or 2), the line has moved at a good clip, so maybe it won't add that much time per maze.

Will the lineup of Haunt attractions be the same or will it change?
It will definitely change a bit, as they add stuff and remove some stuff every year. Last year they added a ton of new stuff (1 maze, 1 scare zone, and 5 new shows). In the past, we’ve found out as early as late July or as late as the first week of September. Only time will tell as to when we’ll hear about the changes this year.

Here are my Halloween Haunt predictions for additional fairy tales that I seriously hope might be included in the Grimm Woods this year: “Cinderella”, “Rapunzel“, and “Snow White”.

Thinking of attending for the first time this year…is this included with daily park admission? When you click on tickets from the website, it just brings you to the generic ticket page.

Included but keep in mind that once it strikes 7 you can not reenter.

Are you saying if you go to the park for the day, leave at 5pm, go get dinner, and get back at 7:15 you won’t be allowed in? Or just that after the event starts at 7pm, there is no re-entry if you leave?

Not sure how those are different….unless they do something like HHN where they scan your tickets if you “stay and scream.”

You can not get back in on your pass after 7 so if you so much as go back to the car and can't get through security till a few minutes after 7 you will be told you cannot reenter on your pass and either have leave or purchase a new ticket. But if you get there and enter for the first time at 7 or after you won't have an issue as long as to don't try to leave. Hope that clears it up.

Wow, that’s crazy. Glad I asked what I thought was a stupid question.

The actual policy is you couldn't get a handstamp after 7. I was assured there would be no problem getting back in no matter how late, but was hesitant to try it, think I did it once though. Probably shouldn't try to go in and out multiple times. I don't know what they're doing now with the smoking area outside and no handstamps for passholders. I guess you're supposed to leave if you smoke. KI had special smoking area for Haunt and I think CP started letting you go in and out. At KD people mostly just break the rules.

Here is something for the park to consider. In my honest opinion, the maze lines begin to die down sometime after 11:15pm from the past experiences with Haunt. The park could close mazes at 11:00pm, but keep rides running until midnight. Closing mazes at 11:00pm gives scare actors a little more time to rest, until the next day. That just leaves a few food places and ride attendants.

I didn't go to Haunt of 2021, so I don't know what the crowds were like. How many mazes did they have? Was the place busy? Does Flight of Fear still close for a maze?

KD will be closing at 11pm on Fridays and Saturdays this year.
For 2021: KD Haunt had 5 mazes (Cornstalkers, No Vacancy :Condemned, Blood on the Bayou, Trick or Treat, and Grimm Woods). Haunt was quite busy each night I went, Saturdays were definitely the busiest: Lines for a lot of mazes did stretch quite long and the park used a lot of different spaces throughout to form line extensions for the mazes; especially on Saturdays. Flight of fear did not close for a maze, but I believe it's still occupying the indoor queue space as it has been. They may bring back mazes to some spaces that sat dormant for the 2021 haunt season, but time will tell as we get closer to their 2022 maze lineup release.

Edit: They've changed the hours for haunt again. Everything closes at 11pm on Fridays/Saturdays, 10 pm on Sundays.
