RE: Killarney Kommotion (2013 to Present)

Since KK was being discussed in the other thread, I'll move discussion here.

I think people are trying to use KK as an example that the park is going to waste has already wasted talent.

While KK certainly does not use much any live singing, this does not mean all future shows will turn out this way.

In fact, KK is the first show I personally have ever known them to lip sync. I prefer they sing live and if audience reaction isn't clear enough, more shows like this won't be happening.

I took a friend who loves dancing and enjoyed the show but felt awkward because the crowd sucked were using both their eyes and ears to watch the show and had no reaction.

All in all, don't use KK as an excuse to say the park will waste has already wasted it's talent. It is only one show that probably won't be around in the future has had iterations in the past and seems to be the direction Scott is taking the shows to as a whole.

Now to get back on track, I feel as though hiring new talent is beneficial wasteful and unethical as long as the talent is better than what is currently the park's current top and fan favorite performs and I if(?) they have the funds to do so they clearly don't have because they cut two Illuminight shows, park operations, and entire rides. Don't spend money you don't have for no reason unless people hate your shows are hated by the guests your supposed to entertain and blame the performers.

That is my tale on the situation grossly limited grasp of the situation.

Fixed that for you, but I'll clarify more.

Unless the person who's lip syncing can't actually sing, then there's no reason to have performers lip syncing. It's cheap, it either says either A) The performers lack the talent to sing (which we know the park has no current shortage of singing talent) or B) The park is too cheap to afford real singers, which makes the park look bad. I have a feeling that in his heart, Scott really does think that it's the performers' fault that people hate his show, so I think that might be why he changed the plan from live singing to lip syncing. I can tell you that if I worked for years at something I really loved, got a job doing that, and was told to fake it, I wouldn't be feeling really good about that.

For the record, there have been plenty of instances of fans of pop artists upset because they lip sync at concerts. As somebody who probably likes anything that comes on Z104, you should know this.

As far as a bad crowd, that simply might be because a large chunk of them weren't ent staff like the video or over 12. I'm not sure if you realize this yet, but you are the only person on the forums who has said anything good about the show. I'll also point you here where Zach notedthat when the crowd isn't 99% ent staff, people don't get into it.

I had nothing better to do this evening and ended up in Ireland with hopes of trying a pork shank. Perfect(?) timing as KK started up.

Check out this image. Look closely. Lots of interesting things in it...

RE: Killarney Kommotion (2013 to Present)

I saw KK for the first time on Saturday, and I enjoyed it. It was a fun, high energy show. Sure, everyone around me didn't care, and nobody was clapping their hands or dancing during the songs, but oh well. :)
I think the main problem (Ok, maybe not the MAIN problem) with KK is audience participation/ interaction. All they really need is more of that, and people MAY start to enjoy it more, and be more into the show. One song that would REALLY help audience participation is the cha cha slide. For all of you don't know that song, here is a link to it on YouTube... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cb6pJ4AEOoI. It is a REALLY fun song when you are doing what it tells you. Overall, I thought it was enjoyable, not my favorite show, but I'll take it.

RE: Killarney Kommotion (2013 to Present)

I posted a video before that has some of the pop ones. The ones I didn't list are Bad Romance Lady Gaga. Single Ladies Beyonce, Fireworks Katy Perry, and Dance again with jlo.

No clue what the Irish ones were.

Saw kk for the first time on Saturday. Sorry I missed you hoopla. My son and I really enjoyed the show, up until the lip synch/pop music started. Why, they didn't just keep on going with the irish music, is beyond me. I stayed back behind everyone,so I could see the crowd. They were digging it, up until, the Black Eyed Peas came on. A couple people were enjoying the dance music, but a whole lot of people looked bewildered. We rolled out about when lady Gaga came on. My son said he thought it looked very hectic. You can tell it came from the same place as Entwined. Sum up: Hectic

If you had the audience do the cha-cha slide it would create major bottlenecking which is the last thing the park wants. Just imagine it dancing to a horrible show while people give you the death stare because you're in their path! I could see it now(seriously)!

RE: Killarney Kommotion (2013 to Present)

^ So what the park could do is get rid of some of the smace in front of the scaffolding (the small, green stage, so of the up front area.) That would add an extra ten feet or so. Also, people don't have to stand in those areas marked. They could stand over by the bathrooms, they could stand over near Pot O' Gold. I just thought it would be a better show if they had good audience participation.

RE: Killarney Kommotion (2013 to Present)

About 1/3 of KK's shows have been either partially or completely cancelled due to weather, while the performers and technicians still work the full shift waiting to be sent home due to weather. The call to cancel is not made till late in the evening. Apparently The Entertainment office does not get accuweather or weather.com and does not remember when they're planning an outdoor show with acrobats that afternoon/evenings showers are a regular summer occurence, and does not realize that they could save a lot of money cancelling the performers 2 hours before their shift by simply looking at the weather report. Meanwhile the Globe Theater, where it never rains, sits empty with no refurbishment work started yet.

Just sayin but Illuminights is all about being outside during the summer night time. Weather happens and unfortunately it can't be helped sometimes. You can't always rely on forecasts, as the weather is too unpredictable and forecasts end up nearly being 75% wrong or somewhat inaccurate. To say that they should cancel for predicted weather is like saying the park should close an entire day because a 20 minute thunderstorm rolls in.

I understand they can plan things out better, but you can't be perfect.

I find this statement intriguing based on another statement that was made earlier about the possibility of cutting some other shows like "Dig It UP" and "Miracles" because they are both outside. The possibility of weather interference isn't really any more dire during Howl-O-Scream or Christmas Town (OK with the possible exception of extreme cold, but you know what you are getting into there). So why this push for a big budget outdoor thing like KK? I guess I missed something in my old age.

RE: Killarney Kommotion (2013 to Present)

So my mom was in town visiting with us this weekend and got her first visit to Busch Gardens. Of course we had to see the IllumiNights shows, and first on the list was KK!! Yeah! My daughter of course sat down in the front and enjoyed herself. When the show was over, my momma leaned over to me and said "That was vulgar." lol. Now she was referring to the gyrating dance moves of the young lady performers, but I agreed with her choice of word usage for a different reason. This thing is an eye-sore and a travesty for the park. So yes; it is VULGAR!

Also, I noticed something on the left side of the stage under the bell for the first time this evening. Check this out:

I only see one person who is slightly smiling, everyone else is kind of just looking as if there was just something interesting to watch but nothing to really enjoy.

RE: Killarney Kommotion (2013 to Present)

Well I'm glad ChickenKing's free in-park photography service enticed you to post. Welcome! :D

What can I say? I figured it would be a good time to mention that it wasn't simply a "bad crowd" like I've seen theorized. I actually found this place because I was curious if anybody was talking about it online and sure enough I found this place.
