RE: Killarney Kommotion (2013 to Present)

So, saw this two times. A second because I couldn't believe my eyes the first time. (Won't make THAT mistake again). Everyone has said enough that I don't need to add more. But, my observation was the second night was WAAAAAY louder that Monday. Excessively loud for the handful of people watching. It hurt. Also, there was a park gal to the side with a clipboard. She would watch, write on the clipboard, watch, write, etc. Mostly looking up at the "acrobatics" going on. It was like she was rating them or marking them for safety hazards. Whatever she was noting, it was written as soon she saw it. Any ideas?

Oh! And a special surprise seeing one of cave girl's acquaintances playing violin. They need to put these two into a great celtic show that fit's their talent. Some other gal was playing violin Tuesday.

The girl with the clipboard is a Stage Manager for Entertainment. I don't think she is taking actual notes. I assumed she is just there to add to watch the show and ensure it goes on just fine. She plays the role of overlooking the construction workers and I think the clipboard thing is just a small side act.

RE: Killarney Kommotion (2013 to Present)

Something weird happened today for the 5:30 show. Just as it was getting ready to start, some kind of power loss took place. Alas, the show was called off immediately. My daughter was sad. Then we found something else to do. :)

Well, this evening we went back to catch the show we missed yesterday. Ran into Nora and Luke. You guys were having FUN!! Hope you found some food for your tummies. Luke was seriously cracking me up. :D

Anyway, KK went off without a hitch. To show that I am not completely biased against this thing, check this out:

ALL singing shows at Kings Dominion use LIVE vocals. No lip-synching. "Got Country" and "On Broadway" don't come anywhere near the style of KK at BGW.

Back to KK, I realize feelings for this show, especially being performed at BGW vary all over the place and many don't care for the second half of the show and its location in the Ireland section. I find it strange to see this type of performance at BGW myself. But, if the majority of the GP feels the show is OK, then I don't see the show going anywhere. Plus, It is only there for another week correct?

(Please note I am not indifferent to the plight of the current BGW spring/summer casts and the strong fan loyalty to those performers. I do feel for all of you. BGW has always had a history of wonderful talent in their shows, many folks going on to bigger and better things in the entertainment industry. Many of you have already shared your disappointment with the park in this decision. But, no matter what happens, continue to show your appreciation to the current casts the next time you visit the park and see a show).

I apologize for the delay in responding. What I meant to say was Busch Gardens is not a place for pop, country (which KD has as well), or other music of that sort. Yes, the park has had those shows before but they've never been good. I never meant to say the performers at KD are bad quality or they lip sync, but simply that KD is a better place for music selections for the sole purpose of being popular like this show.

Looking at KD's shows and taking away the kiddy shows, you see two pop, one country (I would argue to be pop's southern cousin as far as themeing goes), a karaoke "show", the live BMX show (which from what I understand, Busch Gardens dropped this year) and the Broadway show.

Hey! Maybe if they played KK during Food & Wine Festival, you know, maybe they'd, uh, sell more wine? :p Just a thought...

DISCLAIMER: This is simply a joke meant to express how terrible the show is. Nothing more.
Well at least JOE1 said it...'CAUSE I WAS THINKING IT!! lol ;)

This show is like throwing spaghetti at the wall...and hoping one strand will 'stick'. Such a radical mish-mosh of stuff from all ends of the spectrum...all with nothing in common. Like a really bad variety show. I'd like to see more of a THEME in BGW (which is...unless I missed a memo...still a THEME park).

Ok, I'll stop. Everyone has pummeled this show so much (and rightfully so), but I do seriously feel awfully bad for the performers :/ It's not their fault, and I've seen only a scant few performers over the years at BGW that were not up-to-snuff. Typically Busch is really good at finding quality people. Sadly, their talent of late has been seriously wasted on a couple/few shockingly bad shows. Personal opinion, as always.

So this is the new style of theme park shows?

Seem familiar? Kings Dominion's Uprising show at the Grande Bandstand seems to be a miniature (and equally awful) version of Killarney Kommotion for Haunt. The horror! I guess failure really can spread...

Anyway, enjoy the video! And don't forget to subscribe!

Note to mods: Double-posted this for those who don't follow the Kings Dominion boards but want to see the horror of KK spreading to other places. Hope that's okay!

I just took that with my phone while I was passing by. Yeah, I hate vertical video too. It's pretty cheap-looking. What I don't understand is why my Blood Drums recording didn't come out that way.

Speaking of this very god awful show that I'm sure NO ONE wants to remember, here's the really funny parody commentary video that Pretzel Kaiser made three years ago to cheer those blues away.
