Forgot to share this earlier in the week. Looks like maybe Mr. Turtle is still being molested. His fireworks had to be moved further away from the sidewalk.

I won't go into a lot of detail but my thoughts on my first Illuminights visit yesterday.. it should have ended last year. The decorations were very tacky. The bugs looked worse in person. The glow island looked too weird. Did I mention that I hated Killanary Kommotion? I left around 8pm. I didn't stay for the fireworks as I have a 3 hour plus drive back home. It just seemed to me that BGW should have just saved their money.

On the bright side, the crowd wasn't too bad. I was skeptical with the crowds because of the weather but despite the heat, it turned out well. I was able to do all of that I wanted to.

Also, a shout out to the BGW employee who gave me an extra discount on my meal.

I don't plan to go back til Howl-O-Scream depending on what happens there.

I quickly scanned this thread so forgive me if someone wrote why Wunderbarn isn't here. Wunderbarn was cast and hired until about two weeks right before rehearsals and then fired. I speculate a few reasons. One obviously the park is being sold or they are just needing to save so much money. But also after several years people have finally been able to be heard about the working conditions. The upstairs festhaus HVAC has been constantly used as green rooms for casts. After an ordeal with HR and people being fired Carl Lum finally put an end to this happening saying it was all his idea. So where would they put the cast for wunderbarn now. All this is also part of See it Say it program that was devised to make things safer since the park is WAY over its OSHA reported incidents. I can go on and on but I will stop there. There is a reason that the fountains in Italy reappeared out from under the stage this year. Although they broke them and flooded the whole back are and break room trying to get them operational. The park is being sold!

It's so tragic. In less than two weeks we have to say our goodbyes to Cripples McGee the Disco Turtle and Oscar Argot the Giant Glowing Purple Snail. I hope the park has some sort of rehabilitation program to reintroduce those exceedingly rare and majestic creatures back into their natural habitats. Honestly, with the chain's focus on the conversation of rare and endangered species, I think SEAS should release a video series based on the things they've learned about both the Disco Turtle (Chrysemys chorum) and the Giant Glowing Purple Snail (Achatina nitor) during their time in captivity. Additionally, the video series can include the steps they take to assist both species in their return to the wild.

It's more tragic that I have to get rid of my AMAZING signature. :(

We are attending the last night and trying to decide on where to watch the fireworks from. This is our first time to actually make it to illuminights (hopefully the 6yr old will behave better than the 4 and 5 yer old did in past years).

So should we do the River Cruise or Dessert Buffet at the Bistro? I am leaning to the River Cruise even though there is no food/drink there.

If you want to save money, just find a spot in Italy. Most places in Festa and Da Vinci's Gardens are perfect. Plus you can buy some snacks and just eat where you prefer. This gives you and unblocked clear view of the fireworks. I say don't spend the money if you don't have to.

If you want to hear the fireworks go somewhere in the park. If you don't really care about hearing the music that goes along with the fireworks, go to the parking lot. It has a perfect view of the fireworks. Plus you can beat the mad rush to get out of the park. :) Both are good, but the parking lot in less cramped.

Last night we watched them from the Bistrow for something different let me tell you the deserts were worth the price best ice cream in the park and the dipped fruits and oh yea the banana foster fireworks show was neat watching them thru the coasters while they were running...

No offense to the artist, but I see why nobody is buying it, and the glow tree certainly isn't helping. Too many bad memories.
