Saw something odd last night on Apollo, Circo's lights were on...
They were all on last weekend too, seemed to be everything from lights in the queue to the strobes in the maze and all. We saw it from the train.

How old is Circo Sinistro and Cornered?I was hoping they were laid to rest after last year,No offense to the lovers of those mazes in particular but they didnt have the same feeling as they used to.

Circo isn't that old. I think it came about in 2016? So I suppose this will be it's 4th year. Cornered is from 2015 I think.

Cornered to me is the most likely to be replaced. Cornered and Lumberhack might be the two oldest mazes now. I think Lumberhack they keep around for one more year because next year it will have to go away for this attraction in Festhaus park. Circo I could see them waiting for 2020 due to MMXX and they might be interested in really retheming that area for HOS.

Crazy to see that HOS mazes have a much shorter shelf-life than Haunt mazes. For the HOS historians, what maze has had the longest shelf-life? Usually KD mazes have a shelf-life of 5-7 years, so I’m surprised to see the longest discussed here recently for HOS is four.

I think that’s between catacombs and revenge of Pompeii. Revenge was there for as long as I can remember and catacombs had a very long run as well. Can’t give exact numbers but I’m fairly sure Pompeii ran close to 10 years.

Secondly, it’s crazy to see how cornered has had such a steady and dramatic descent in quality, I seem to recall it being very good when it first came out.

Catacombs and Bitten made it 9 strong years before biting the bullet

Dimensions was successful (in my opinion) but relocation to Ireland would be a good choice but battle for eire is stopping that.

Dimensions is a very "rigid" house. It was designed for an open warehouse-style space and the chances of it ever moving elsewhere seem to be essentially nonexistent.

Where KD builds actual sets and facades, BGW tacks burlap to plywood. Where KD installs elaborate props to facilitate scares, BGW hangs a curtain and tells an actor to stand behind it.

The initial investment into Kings Dominion houses vs. houses at Busch Gardens Williamsburg is quite literally night and day. It's far easier to justify replacing a house when all that really means is moving some plywood walls and nailing some "new" props from Entertainment storage to them.

Additionally, Busch Gardens Williamsburg still won't construct dedicated Howl-O-Scream space (as was planned and then cancelled recently) meaning that three of our seven house locations are outdoors. Since BGW won't spend the money to take down and setup these outdoor houses each year like they always used to, we are left with three mazes that deteriorate far quicker than they should.

The only houses in BGW's current lineup that feel like they are built to stick around for more than a couple more years are Dimensions (which we stole from BGT) and Dystopia (which still, amazingly, relies heavily the bones of the houses that preceded it—namely Revenge of Pompeii and Deadline).

My kingdom for a warehouse for a maze.

I would love to have something like Circo inside. While Circo is honestly a massive maze, half of it's show rooms are repeats of other rooms. I do like the outdoor box cars they have for it, but they don't add much to the house as a whole. I think a controlled atmosphere of being indoors would be extremely beneficial to all outdoor houses, with maybe the except of Lumberhack.

Outdoor houses indoors work, except when it comes to recreating trees imo. It's really difficult to capture the feeling of being in a forest indoors. It's not impossible (see ET queue) but it's very difficult. But Cornered and Circo? Easily could be done indoors
