I think what the cast member was talking about was the actual corn part of of the maze which has ALWAYS been replaced yesrly.

Two years ago there was a serious black mold problem near the end of the season in Cornered. Last year's mass reduction in Cornered was a result of this issue.

CornStalkers at KD is a little better off since it uses corn stalks hung on metal railing instead of pinned to wooden walls and fences.

I think I've said it before but from what I've been told the park will be moving at least one of the mazes away from Germany. They realized it was too congested.

The mazes are all still up. You can see Lumberhack and cornered from the train. They are currently still sitting there in the form they were during HOS. As far as the black mold I've never heard that one before. But my understanding is that it's cheaper to let them stand in place and repair them each year then tear them down and rebuild.

i didn't mean to make it sound like i didn't know that all of the outdoor mazes are still up. instead, i was questioning if they were due for a rework to the degree that frostbite and cornered received. lumberhack's physical props are probably easily maintained and only require minor touch-ups each season, but what about circo? the large carnival tent, as well as the other tents (the maze, the snake-lady tent, the knife throwing..), are not invincible; and i know for a fact they had problems with flooding in the maze section this past year. wouldn't this also be a problem where mold is concerned?

i feel these mazes have begun to grow stale and could do for a major retheming or relocating. although i did mention early that i ideally would love for there to be one haunted attraction per area, i realize this is most unfeasible due to the park's layout. (jack hanna's is too integral for foot traffic, and it's unlikely BfE is going to be closed seasonally for a few years)

There are obviously places in France and there are options in Ireland that don't involve closing BfE. In the past they've discussed using the interior of Castle O'Sullivan. The other option is to only close BfE at 6 when HOS starts and let it run the rest of the day.

One of my points was the park has no interest in repeating the mess from last year in Germany. At least one of those mazes will close for a maze located elsewhere in the park. That is the current plan according to my sources.

i felt the lack of enthusiasm in all of the mazes but the new ones ?

I remember Cornered being one of the better houses the year it opened (2014 I think) but it just seemed to go down hill every year after that. Last year was pretty rough in my opinion. A few neat moments but poorly staffed.

in my opinion last year was the worst year for them.

I think Lumberhack has been strong almost every year and if there is a house in the Bitten/Vault location, it makes sense to keep it there. There probably isn't much needed as far as upkeep although they do seem to switch it up just a little every year. Cornered, though still up, is a mess and probably should have been gone a couple of seasons ago. That said, it is currently in a spot that doesn't take up anything else.

I have always felt like Cornered was in the wrong place. Why not move it to a field or closer to the woods like Lumberhack? It feels like a carnival 'haunted house' in the middle of a crappy lot.

I have many mixed feelings about Circo. I think it has had some good moments but I felt it was underwhelming for the most part. That said, the first year of Sideshow Square was amazing. Unfortunately it has gone down hill since. Last year was just confusing.
