You can complain all you want about the guy in the cage but he was spectacular. He was crawling on the ground, timing scares perfectly, and brought back memories of the "Footloose" section from Monster Stomp. I saw multiple families enter and then turn right around to leave because of this guy. He really set the tone that this event is not intended for kids. Maybe they should enhance Ripper Row by making it steampunk so they could have chainsaws at the entrance. Now that would set the tone! :)

Good to hear!! Maybe now parents will get the message that this isn't a family friendly event.

My only real complaint is I would have liked to see a heavier mix of creatures and a little fewer guards as the latter are more of a distraction than a scare. Also I would have liked a maze to go with it but not sure on where you could have put it.

Apple beat me to it. What she said.

I don't know. My chief concern about Catacombs last year was that it was too short. It created a lot of tension, but it wasn't able to sustain it long enough to be a really impressive house.

But you run the risk of it being too short, which is sort of Catacombs' problem. Short houses can be good, but can end rather suddenly.

Wasn't Maquerage a short house? The space up in Eagle's Nest and The space it took up are very similar. But then again, Scott probably isn't capable of pulling off something of the Masquerage level.

I'm not sure how I feel about the lights as a electric fence. It still looks rather Christmas-y. But the rest looks pretty cool. I'm excited to see this in person again, and hopefully without a drizzle or rain.

There are better electric fence effects out there. However, after looking at Demon Street, I'm really grateful for what they did do.

Is that bad?

Went to the park this past Friday and we just had dinner and did a quick walk around the park (it was WAAAAAY too crowded to do much else).  Just a few comments (excuse if any of this was said before, I skimmed a lot of the posts):

  • Entered Wendigo Woods from the Germany side and I thought the effect was pretty good.  Leaving Wendigo Woods into Demon Street is a different story.  There was WAY too much fog and it caused a major pileup because people couldn't see where they were going, this was especially bad because guests were moving in both directions and it was busy.  There were also a bunch of teenagers around me pushing each other and being stupid which caused little five foot me to be pushed and stepped on at several points.
  • The fog was also particularly bad over by the wolves and was actually a safety hazard.  It was a neat effect if you are walking from Ireland but it is dangerous from the other direction since you enter it right at the top of the hill.  If you weren't familiar with the layout and were not paying attention, it would be really easy to trip and tumble down the hill.
  • Lighting in general was bad at various points throughout the park.  There were several places where I could see someone tripping over a curb because it was hidden in the darkness (and not just tiny curbs but major spots where people were actually likely to have an accident). I get that there needs to be darkness to fit the atmosphere but it needs to at least be strategic darkness....
  • The dude/dudette in the cage was there when I came in and the people waiting in line seemed to love it.
  • Heard the song once but we were eating dinner in Italy and was away from the main action so I couldn't tell if anything happened.  Also, I still think the food in Italy is terrible but I met up with my parents who offered to buy me dinner and I don't turn down free food.
  • Despite being female, I also enjoy the sexy nurses.  Did not like THESE sexy nurses.  I hate criticizing anyone's body (especially since I am not a small girl) but these girls should not have been wearing those costumes.  That is not to say that they shouldn't have been sexy nurses, they should have just dressed them in outfits that were better suited to their bodies.

Sorry most of these are liability issues. I have to deal with a lot of these things at my job so I probably am bothered by it more than others....

Going back this Friday and will hopefully do more (using the free bring a friend ticket but hoping it rains so that everyone else doesn't come...)
