RE: Howl-O-Scream 2013

Strange, I've gone on Friday/Sunday nights and managed to do most of if not all the mazes plus a few night rides (I usually don't see shows until later in the season). Even then, the shows play during the day so you can hit those up early before the mazes open.

Me and a friend went opening night this year and did all the mazes (except 13 which was shut down) in the 4-5 hour alloted time starting with Root and working our way around the park from there.

Because you can't say that The area of Holiday Hills if full of Murderers and then go back to the happy area with no murderers.
I'm not quite sure what your getting at, they're both 2 totally different events. Pompeii is deadline with zombies, now it has 6 billion lights. Scary to happy?

Pompeii goes from Deadline to Polar Pathway. Completely different names and themes. You can go from happy to scary to happy again, but having a name that is exactly the same or very close to something with a completely different theme is just bizarre and really not right.

It would be fine if this new haunted section was renamed something completely different with no relation to Holiday Hills.
I must have missed something, why would that even be a consideration of using the same name? Considering they're 2 totally different events, the name for that area during howloscream shouldnt have any relation with holiday hills

RE: Howl-O-Scream 2013

Haunted Hills and Holiday Hills are closely related and from what I've gathered that is what everyone is agreeing about. Just saying, the name should be something completely different, even if it is two different events.

Main Points:
- Completley different name
- No relation whatsoever to the Holiday Hills theme, just becaus their different events does not mean anything.

RE: Howl-O-Scream 2013

Its not the confusion per say, more or less the transition. Holiday Hills is famous and known for its Christmas nostalgia, making it iconic for Christmas. Transitioning from this merry nostalgia to this Horror Hills is fine as well because everyones favorite past time has nightmares. It is the transition back to this merry nostalgia that is a little rough.

I personally have grown to like the idea of this trick or treating horror hamlet idea, however I find that some guests may have issues if they see their favorite merry nostalgic town turned into a horror filled town and then suddenly all the horror disappears. It just leaves a confusing story.

Now if they developed a story based on another small town unrelated to Holiday Hills and really themed the area well, with a name more so along the lines of horror and perhaps something with ville at the end, I wouldn't mind as much because people won't see it as this insane town the goes back and forth horror, happy, horror, happy, etc. They will see it as two different towns.

I do like the small town of horror idea, and they could have a roaming horde of trick or treats just in that area which would be perfect. Also, my take on what the park should do for park scares, have hordes roam in specific areas and not all over the park, with small scare zones abundant. So like have these trick or treaters stay and roam around all over festa, but have a few stay near the entrance to festa and around the Italy star tree. My idea is more so that the whole park gets covered and has scare actors in almost every area constantly. Another PR Concept thread soon to come ...

RE: Howl-O-Scream 2013

What will happen is, no decorations will be seen in festa, except one maze. And here's the kick, They'll bring Cursed back :p

RE: Howl-O-Scream 2013

You will see decor in festa, but very minimal. For some reason Festa always gets skipped when they set out the decor for Howl-o-Scream, at least they jam packed it with decor for Christmas Town.

RE: Howl-O-Scream 2013

It looked very nice lastnight! I wonder why it seems like they do skip it though? Back when Last Laugh Industries was in festa, the whole place had life sized clowns laying around everywhere

Holiday Hills is NOT iconic. Loch Ness Monster is iconic. Holiday Hills is just a new area. Considering the entire park pretty much goes from scary haunts to merry Christmas each year, it shouldn't be that big of an issue transforming Holiday Hills from Halloween to Christmas.

Not really... Holiday Hills is a town that loves to celebrate holidays and Halloween just happens to be a major holiday event. During the day the town celebrates all things family about Halloween and come nightfall, the town celebrates all things scary about Halloween.

RE: Howl-O-Scream 2013

Does anyone else agree that the Howl-O-Scream Decor should atleast match up to the Christmastown Decor?

I understand we get mazes that cost a pretty penny... But, There should be just as much effort put into transforming the park for each event on the visual level... I understand how much that would cost... I really do. BUT... We got to have more. You build it and they will come. There's just no excuse for sorry amount of props that HOS gets compared to CT (and other halloween events)... And I do understand they probably have to strike HOS's set up faster than they do Christmastown... But there are ways around that. Christmas down decorations also seem like they are a tad bit more expensive...

There's also children and the parents... They shouldnt even be considered seeing as the event is not for them *-_-

RE: Howl-O-Scream 2013

PR, I actually understand what you mean. I'll try to reiterate what you were saying. I think what Party Rocker is getting at is that if the themes/names were to similar, people might think of it as some "mad" town that goes from murderous trick-or-treaters to giant living gingerbread men, which could also be creepy if you think about it. Basically what I mean is, this is not a Tim Burton film. The way some are describing it, it would be. And while there's nothing wrong with Tim Burton, I think it would be appalling to see that sort of stuff at Christmas Town, which is about peace, love etc. I hope I cleared things up and, didn't confuse things even more.

I'm still so confused, why does whatever BG puts in that area for HOS have anything to do with CT? They're 2 different events...

RE: Howl-O-Scream 2013

I would personally like to see a revamp of the whole park like they did in 2009 I believe. The decor was very fantastic, but it's now kinda getting dull. I can't ask too much though knowing that the economy is bad. However this is on my wishlist along with many others.

Halloween-Christmas? Thats very interesting.

RE: Howl-O-Scream 2013

This is my random thought. I think they should have a slenderman haunted house in germany because it was based off of german folklore.

I agree Howl-o-Scream lacks a lot of the visual village decor that we see during Christmas Town, but in regards to this specific part, they actually have CT strike done by the end of the second week of January. So it is actually less time. They do this because they use seasonal employees for strike, and you have to have 2 months off still. There was still Howl-o-Scream decor up the day before Thanksgiving, not a lot but a few things. Whereas they have 2 weeks to strike CT.

I think one of their problems is labor, they need more of it to setup and strike.
