Since Fear Fair and the clowns may not be returning, they need to make Festa a Retro Halloween. Who said the town of Holiday Hills only has to celebrate one Holiday?

No, this would be terrible. Retro Christmas works because it shows off some of the more renowned and popular American Christmas traditions. You can't combine retro and Halloween, well you could but it'd be a disaster. Firstly, America does not belong in a Europe themed park (Christmas Town is an exception because the park is primarily Christmas themed where as Howl-o-Scream the park sticks strongly to it's European connections.). Secondly, no just no.

What I would love to see is the park put as much effort into Festa during HOS as they did CT. The comparison between the two events for this one specific area is like night and day when it comes to village decor and theme.

EDIT: The reason Root of All Evil was created was to increase capacity, or at least one of the main reasons. So they are looking to expand and increase capacity, so I do believe they will have 6 or possibly more houses in 2013.

I can see how it could be terrible, for sure, but you only have to look at Trick-or-Treat at this year's Knotts Scary Farm to see a vintage Halloween theme done right. Whether it fits into BGW or not is the issue.

You mean like American Jukebox?

How come? Retro Halloween would be pretty interesting. Have classic Halloween music (i.e Monster Mash) playing. Decor based off of the usual Halloween decorations. Have Halloween mascots roaming the area for photo ops. Maybe have pick your own pumpkin and a place for kids to trick or treat.

Come nightfall, change out the mascots for classic horror villains, clowns, and slasher villain knockoffs. Make the music darker in tone. Bring on a new maze inspired by classic horror movies (make it upcharge if you wish to amp up the scares a bit).

As long as the park can pull it off well, I can definitely see Retro Lane being converted to Halloween.

American Jukebox did not fit the theme at all, and slightly annoyed me, but it was a decent show.

As for Retro Halloween, there really is nothing to indicate it is retro. Halloween is Halloween. You'd can't really tell the difference in time periods based on decorations and traditions. oing off of classic horror movies means the theme is horror movies and not retro Halloween.

The thing with Holiday Hills is that there are decorations and traditions that were specifically big a that point in time vs. now. For example, back then people loved using C9 lightbulbs, now people are more towards LED lights. For Halloween you can't really make any tim difference like that, trick or treating is still highly popular today therefore I don't see it as retro.

Like Christmas is Christmas? Sure pulled out a retro Christmas at the park well. Halloween decor, stories, and urban legends have surely evolved with each generation. Sounds to me like retro can be done. #getyourmindoutthebox bulbs are no big deal. Yes they might be iconic but several other items play into a retro Christmas other than lights.

Alright, I think the town of Holiday Hills could be awesome during Halloween. I'd like to use good ole Halloween Horror Nights Orlando as a point of reference. Stick with me.

A few years ago they had Bloody Mary as their icon. This is not important. What IS important is that they came up with an elaborate backstory for her, but a lot of it involved the town of Carey, Ohio. Their creative team has used Carey as a base for many of their houses/scarezones. It just keeps popping up. What if something happened in Holiday Hills that the residents are trying to cover by throwing an elaborate Christmas celebration each year. WHAT IF on Halloween's Eve the true Holiday Hills is revealed.

Bloody Mary's year they had The Skoolhouse. Long backstory. Pretty retro. Picture time.

Last year, they had roaming hoardes instead of stationary scarezones (it was the cool thing to do last haunt season). One of the groups was called the Traditionals. Basically, it was 'kids' dressed up to go trick or treating. Very scary. And well received. Still...retro.

I could go on about how one town has inspired years of houses and scare ideas for HHN (and will do so at request:)). My point is they could turn Holiday Hills into something that stretches for years, but can still be kept fresh because you have a whole town to pull from. Maybe they have an abandoned hospital where some crazy doctor did experiments on dying patients? Funeral home? Hotel? Circus came to town and eveything didn't leave with the troup? Everybody loves insane asylums! It can be done up retro and be scary, just as those pictures show. Tons and tons of haunt GOLD is waiting in Holiday Hills. Please hire me Busch, as part of your creative team. There's a few of you I'll take with me. Promise.

(Sidenote: The year of Bloody Mary also introduced the Legendary Truth. This group was set in present day and there was a huge interactive 'game' played between people at home on the message boards and websites and people who were in the park. Clues were given out online, and you had to have someone on the inside to go use the clues for you. It was awesome.)

For Halloween you can't really make any tim difference like that, trick or treating is still highly popular today therefore I don't see it as retro.

BOOM. Yes you can.

^I think this is the best idea I've heard in a while. Sort of like bloody Christmas, the only problem is, that it would mean Holiday Hills in CT could not happen. You can't turn a happy place into a scary place, and then turn around and make it happy again.

RE: Howl-O-Scream 2013

I know the name Holiday Hills keeps getting thrown out there but there is no reason it has to be named the same. Do what they did for Christmas and make up a small town name that works with he horror theme and you have a haunted town.

The transition to Christmas is not affected and won't even enter the General Populations minds.

RE: Howl-O-Scream 2013

I don't know that the nostalgia factor that works so well for Christmas has quite the same effect on Halloween. Christmas is all about families, remembering the past, magic babies, ect ect ect. Halloween has two distinct ways of celebration based off of age, that is not quite how Busch Gardens celebrates it. While I'm sure the park could so something fantastic along those lines and make it scary, the issue would be that people could see it as kid friendly at night and cause a huge issue. I'm fine with clowns as long as it's executed well.

I'm not quite sure what your getting at, they're both 2 totally different events. Pompeii is deadline with zombies, now it has 6 billion lights. Scary to happy?

Pompeii goes from Deadline to Polar Pathway. Completely different names and themes. You can go from happy to scary to happy again, but having a name that is exactly the same or very close to something with a completely different theme is just bizarre and really not right.

It would be fine if this new haunted section was renamed something completely different with no relation to Holiday Hills.

Knott's did a pretty extensive Trick or Treat themed maze this year for the 40th, so it can be done pretty easily at BGW too as long as they can actually pull off the scares and atmosphere (no more Root of all Evil plz).

Clowns will always work well since there will always be people terrified of clowns.

Count me in on the boat that thinks BGW should hold a family HOS event during the day and then amp up the scares after 5-6pm. If Tampa, Knotts, and Universal can pull it off, why not BGW?

RE: Howl-O-Scream 2013

That was on a friday. Tell me how I'm supposed to get to all three shows and all six houses done in 4-5 hours as well as a few rides or whatever. that's a tough task and some people can't afford to go multiple days. just sayin.
