RE: Howl-O-Scream 2012 Rumors

is there any truth to the making HOS a separate ticketed event? I know I hear this rumor every year along with the same rumor for KD's Haunt but honestly at this point I'd be ok with it because if it would mean we would get a more fleshed out higher budget event I would rather pay extra!

Not this year but it is on the boards.

I know im going to get flamed for putting this up here but KD's Haunt is going to have 12 mazes this year and we'll still have what 5 houses? Maybe 6 if we get this rumored "Alone" house, does BG not get that if that spend a little more money then they could make SO much more... IDK maybe thats just me but if we had more mazes it would alleviate crowding and make people stay longer and spend more money. I dont want to seem overly critical though because HOS took a HUGE step forward with last years event so Im incredibly excited for this year I just hope we get something innovative this year even if it is Tampa's Alone house because we would still be getting something fresh!

If hos became a seperate ticketed event, would platinum passholders get in free or have a discount?

Personally I wouldnt want anyone getting in free because that would throw off the legitamacy of making it a Separately ticketed event, I could understand giving a 10% discount just like everything else in the park but anything less and I fear that would backfire and they wouldnt be making the kind of money that would be the reason they would implement this in the first place. I also feel doing this will rid the park of all the parents who would not be buying tickets for their children to go to this event and IF they did then BG could fight them off easier with this system...

RE: Howl-O-Scream 2012 Rumors

I feel that an upcharge event, if executed well, will be a great thing to rid the park of kids at night. Personally, I think Platinum members should get in free, but mainly because they get so little compared to the other memberships.

As far as KD vs BGW, it's also a quality thing. Just because KD has way more houses, doesn't mean they're all good. BG's worst house (bitten) is miles above KD's worst house. That being said, if it is a paid event, I would expect more than they have now by far.

I agree with your overall argument here, BUT Busch doesn't need anyone to stay longer during Howl-O-Scream. They hit capacity, and it pretty much stays that way all evening. Also their idea to help the crowds was just to give a couple more weekends.

I think they need one new house in addition to this Alone house(if rumors are true). Some people just can't pay that kind of money, especially each time they go. I just think they need a little something new. Which is why I sincerely hope Catacombs isn't going to be the spot for an upcharge event.

If Bitten stays that seals in the nail in the coffin for lack of creativity. The vamp craze brought on by this Twilight nonsense has just about lived its cycle outside of the silver screen and that is just about over as well. I wouldn't quite say that the extra weekend is to help crowds. The park clearly has intentions to look to extend operations. HoS is a big money event for the park even as a standard admission. I have a feeling it is more to have a longer window of making money... especially for the Ent department.

You are correct, an upcharger would need to be offset with another maze. Losing a gen adm maze for an upcharge is a huge turnoff for several people (but surely would not affect overall numbers).

RE: Howl-O-Scream 2012 Rumors

Wow. I haven't been here since like November. Hello again. Awkward posting time. woo.

I really hope the get rid of Bitten, but if what people were saying earlier in the thread is true, then it's staying, because it's popular with the GP. (Although I could have totally misread that whole part of the thread as it was 1 in the morning and I was half asleep.)

Personally, I want Bitten gone and them to bring back the Grimm fairy tale house (Was it called Neverafter? That's the name jumping into my mind.). Since BG is coat-tailing the whole fairy tale kick people are on, I don't see why they couldn't bring that back.

My ideal house in that area would be a Frankenstein house. Since it would match the theme of Stitchin' Time. However, with the use of Fiends, that might be over playing the story of Frankenstein. Although the original story of Frankenstein isn't scary at all(it was at the time it was written), and just makes me all sorts of sad, I'd still like them to make this a house.
