The hordes sound like they will be pure chaos, possibly on a dangerous level.

I'm so much in agreeance with this statement. Now, I think the idea is brilliant! Although, the execution could kill it. If the hordes are too big, things will go wrong. People will get hurt, and crowding will just get worse. If the hordes are too small, it wont really be a horde...Also, does this mean we will see less actors in the scarezones that are already established?

BUT on the subject of this Rhinefield house, I AM BEYOND INTERESTED AND EXCITED. Rhinefield is small though, so I'm still curious as to where they'll put it!
I think Zachary said it would be in a parking lot behind festhuas, is that right guys?

I didn't think that was Rhinefield still...but I could be wrong.

Maybe 8-10 people would be sufficient for the each horde

I was also thinking about 10 may suffice.

RE: Howl-O-Scream 2012 Rumors

Does this mean that in areas with no hoards there will be no actors? Thats most of the park except for two hamlets! Instead of 2 groups of 20 they shOuld have 4 of 10. It sounds like theres not gOnna be much action in most of the park.

RE: Howl-O-Scream 2012 Rumors

Im torn, because I like the idea of hordes if the actors are ready to work and can get around most of the park. But im afraid that wont be the case and we could/would walk the entire park and never see a simple scare actor! I would much prefer the usual scarezones then maybe 4 groups of 4 hordes "lurking" in the deadzones!

RE: Howl-O-Scream 2012 Rumors

Maybe one horde will go clockwise around the park, and the other group counter clockwise around the park, to ensure no one just happens to be walking away from a group at any time.

I am getting excited with the information this year. The new house is something I am interested in. I know you said the story behind the house is your taking a tour of the park's greenhouses until you met her. Does this mean you will actually go through the greenhouses behind the Festhaus or will they "recreate" greenhouses in the parking lot area? I do get the entrance but will there be a tie into the theme of the house and Rhinefeld's theme?

With the horades, I think 20 people is a good sized group. I think seeing huge groups of zombies coming, one with a chainsaw will definitely show parents the park is serious about scaring EVERYONE. I do remember how some scare actors even targeted team members. It definitely kept them on edge and it is a good tactic to show that scare actors will scare anyone in their way.

As for the new show being about vampires, could we expect it to be another Fiends-like show? Or with their trend into the Black Forest and KIDsiderate entertainment are we in for some Count Chocoula? I sure hope that this show is intense and risque to a point where it is just slight bit toned down and on the scale of Monster Stomp Revamped.

I think haunted houses should be open by noon on select days. There isn't a need to have them open by noon on Sundays, especially with how low the attendance should be those days, but Saturdays are a must be open by noon type of day.

RE: Howl-O-Scream 2012 Rumors

Location is huge to for what is open during the day. It is September when HOS opens and it is still pretty hot out during the day so any house that is not air conditioned can't be opened or every actor in there would be cooked. It's also hard to get everyone to be able to come in at that early time too. Most of the actors have other jobs either in the park or somewhere outside that would hold them back from working at 12:00pm.

RE: Howl-O-Scream 2012 Rumors

So hoards are 100% happening! Wish they would hint at a house in rhinefield. I hope the website is updated soon with news of the new house!

@jmu2011: if they did it in catacombs in 2010 they can do it again in 2012. Not all the houses need to open at noon just 1 or 2

Dig it Up:

"Relics long forgotten and buried in the vaults of the Muse di San Marco have recently been dug up, dusted off and brought to life through song. Cavemen, Egyptians, Romans, and even an alien encounter make their musical debut in this eclectic energy packed anything goes at Halloween show."

Points to Cool Doctor Money...

On the hordes:

Edit: Whoever their web designer is, they need a proofreader. First they're looking for someone with a muscular "physic," and now they're using the spelling of the verb "to hoard" (or the resulting noun of "that which has been hoarded") instead of the noun, a "horde of people."

The more you know... ;)

RE: Howl-O-Scream 2012 Rumors

So I'm on my iPad, so I don't know if that has to do with anything, but I noticed a few things:

On the park map (mobile version), there is a surprising lack of Verbolten. Now, the tab for the site still says 2011, but the rest of the map is up to date so far, including Dig It Up and Fiends' new location. Also, under the Frightening Features and Coasters section, you would think they would mention it. But they don't. Wouldn't you think they'd take that extra real estate to hype up their new attraction?

Also on the mobile park map, the scare zones from last year are still there. I know there are going to be the hoards, but will there still be scare zones, only with a couple actors? Say three or four stay in the zone at all times, and when the hoard gets to their location they kinda disappear. That way you're guaranteed to run through a zone instead of hoping you, or the hoard, catch up with each other.

Obviously they're still keeping the new house a secret, as well as the other new show. We will get those updates soon enough.

I'm guessing those are things that will be announced over time...
