RE: Howl-O-Scream 2011

The Sliders in BGW probably need training from the ones in BGT. They're really good there.

I think BGW is trying to give their HOS a scary feel like BGT. If they've brought in ANY of the guys from BGT to help, they went the right way. I'm actually pretty excited to get up there and check out this year's HOS!

Stitchen' Time
Confirmed. Official description:
This is the realm of the living dead—a land where zombies and monsters roam and where cold eyes search for unsuspecting new victims. Could you become one of them? In the darkened streets of Germany a demonic doctor is on the loose, frantically gathering the limbs and organs of the living. His purpose: to patch together a new breed of immortal creatures and to build a ferocious force of undead to do his bidding. He’s armed his zombie militia with scissors, needles and thread, and he’s convinced them all it’s Stitchin’ Time. And now, they’re dying to make you a part of their evil empire.

RE: Howl-O-Scream 2011

Problem last year with the sliders is they really didnt have the proper piece of walkway to slide on. Cant slide on cobblestone or brick pathways. They also didnt even try to hide the protective gear...

RE: Howl-O-Scream 2011

I'm glad they did that last minute name change- wasn't a big fan of Stitch It Up. Thanks for posting the list Chris, I've had a busy day.

Seems like Gardens is going a little darker with the themes this year. Hopefully they find the right balance. And hopefully they are more *scary.

I too am glad that they are doing that too. I think that it should be a lot more scary compared to the knee sliding Vampires. I wonder where the last scare zone will be.

Or maybe your "reliable" leak didn't give you the correct name to begin with.

You know what, this person is right. Stitch It Up was so far off. Swift, your source stinks. They're clearly just pulling stuff out of their butt. I mean sure, they've provided the names and themes of everything else, but this clearly shows they have no clue what's going on. Totally unreliable.

Wow, so still nothing in Italy. That is a complete and utter waste of that theater. As lame as the movies were, at least it was something. I didn't mind the movies, but there should be some sort of show there.

I can't imagine that they aren't doing something in the theater. They have the movies. I'm sure they wouldn't just let the theater just sit dormant when they could at least run them?

If you didn't get enough of the kids last year during Howl O Scream get ready because they'll be coming in by the 1,000's. Introducing extension of Preschool Passes to October 30! So exciting....... :-/ :dodgy:

I expect the last scare zone will be in Scotland/England area. It's rather empty there. "Scavengers" is a rather broad name to have a clear location. The park may also be taming the Scotland/England scare zone area near the front of the park due to the children's areas being closer to there. If that is is to be scare zone free, then maybe Scavengers is closer to the Italian garden area.

RE: Howl-O-Scream 2011

We clearly know that train station countries though WILL NOT be scare free zones. That is a step above last year already.

You're kidding. This is what we're complaining about: They advertise the event one way, and expect people to act in a completely contrary manner. Get your act together Busch. If you want it to be scary, don't provide little kids free tickets. If you want it to be happy and kid friendly, advertise it as such. I don't care what they chose, I just want them to make up their minds. :dodgy:

The park does have to make up their mind. They want kids there during the day and don’t want them there at night. If the parents and kids come during the day and don’t leave right at 6:00, then the park will have to deal with a lot of complaining parents complaining about something that their kids should not have been at in the first place. To solve the problems they should not encourage kids to go with discounts like this.

RE: Howl-O-Scream 2011

Families spend money. Allowing kids to come free, brings in the rest of the family. They had a crappy summer and hope to recoup some of their losses by attracting people to come during the day. HOS is packed from 6:00 on. Before that, not so much. This should help fill up the daytime hours with paying customers. Pretty smart if you ask me.

BTW, I believe this is the most overblown "problem" that's addressed on this board.

1. With the return of clown in Festa, I hope they bring back the effects they did with the teacups many moons ago. It was simple, but completely changed the ride.

2. Does anyone who keeps bringing up the 'complaining parents' actually have kids? Do you bring them to the park during HOS? How do they do?

Those who don't have kids, do you think less of the parents who bring their kids? Have you ever seen a parent at Guest Services complaining and what were they saying? I think you guys underestimate us parents.

I have two kids, four and one. They have gone every year they have been alive (and the years I was pregnant) and I have never once had a problem with anything in HOS where I felt complelled enough to march my way to Guest Services to complain. I obviously don't take them through the mazes, but we do go through the scarezones. Anytime I get near a scaractor while I'm pushing my stroller, they do one of two things: NOT jump out, growl, yell, etc until my stroller has passed -or- become kid friendlyish, giving my son high fives, patting my daughter on the head, waving. On the few times where a scare close to my kids can't be avoided, my son laughed at the people screaming. He thinks the bush people are hilarious. He played a game of tag with a werewolf that afterwards actually got him to distract some people coming close to his post while the werewolf jumped out from behind a trashcan and scored a huge scare. My daughter sleeps through the whole thing.

Maybe that's just my kids, I don't know. I teach my son that this is all fun and none of it is real and he gets it. The only thing scary in life is no education and a bad credit score. Vampires, werewolves, witches, all that stuff...are just joys of Halloween. But my son is PUMPED for this year and I can't wait to share it with him.

Now you're going to get chastised by people on this board about how you're ruining everyone's time around you by "depriving" them of getting scared because the scareactors were being friendly to your kids. (No, I'm not joking).

BTW, I've never had any big issues with my kids either. My son (9) is much more frightened than my daughter (5). But he's hot and cold. And we basically just navigate around the scare zones the best we can. You really can "avoid" most of HOS while you're there, if you're familiar enough with the park. Oh and they LOVE the shows.

For the most part, I think there is a huge perception that people bring kids and then complain they got scared. Obviously you're going to get a handful of that stuff, but good grief, can you imagine to goofball complaints they deal with on a regular basis throughout the season. Just part of doing business.
