I understand about the actors, I was mainly worried about the props.

If I remember correctly, the mazes were done. The scare-zones either were complete or props were added after the 1st weekend of Haunt. But, those were new/additional props that were not there from the previous season.

I've been hearing rumors that Cedar Fair is installing the Skeleton Key to another Cedar Fair park. I know it'll probably be going to CP but what do you think the chances are of it coming to here? Also any construction other than MOM?

Well I am about to say something I never thought I would say. That was actually good. It is certainly the best thing I have seen from either park in a long time. Don't get me wrong, it had issues, there were problems with key shifts, and certain numbers did not work well, but it was a solid show.

That's not a bad show, but it lacks a certain charm and imagination (although that imagination has completely backfired at BGW at times). I used to find the humor in Fiends so enjoyable and Night Beats is a good song and dance show that manages to be it's very own thing.

I just saw something very interesting. CGA posted on there Instagram a picture of the Green Witch laughing. Could we see it spread to other parks and possibly ours? Also I wonder what the configuration for the Overlord will be now that the planter has a small hill. Anyway can Haunt come faster!

So because I've been getting anxious and haven't heard much, I decided to dig around for any kind of leaked info about Haunt. I found an article from CBS 6 advertising that KD is hiring actors and it provided a (possibly) telling line...

“In total, Halloween Haunt at Kings Dominion features nine mazes, six scare zones, six live shows and more than 450 monsters roaming the midways."

9 mazes? There's been 10, so what's up? Does this mean they won't be doing anything to replace Miners? The article goes on to mention Maze of Madness, but nothing else about any new mazes or scare zones. Last year, they discussed Miners and Zombie High in the same kind of article about hiring. Honestly, if they really aren't replacing Miners and are only bringing back MoM, that's sort of disappointing to me. I know the WWC area hasn't had the best luck with mazes, but I'd still be interested to see what they can pull off. Of course, it could still mean that another maze is being scrapped for a new theme.

Who knows, though? Still lots of time for things to be announced. Just thought I'd share that with everyone.

Six live shows? Last year there was only five. Could we be getting a new show this year?

Well last year I went to Haunt twice. My second time was when Miner's was closed do to recent rain that made the pathways slippery. So they had 9 mazes open. I'm not sure how it works but I assume the actors from Miner's were distributed to other areas in the park/other mazes? Needless to say, the scare zones around the park seemed to have more actors and energy....so the trip with only 9 mazes open was the better of the two. Now I don't know if they plan on having less actors this year but if they don't, I personally think having the extras to distribute throughout the park makes for a better overall experience. Just my opinion and speculation thought.

Since that article is from CBS 6 and is not an official park statement, I am willing to bet they are not considering Blue Ridge Bloodbath a maze, thus leaving nine actual mazes.

Joe, I was wondering if they did that too. The only thing is that the quote I pulled from the article is from the Communications Manager of Kings Dominion. However, you could definitely be right, as she may just not be counting Blue Ridge as a maze at all. The article can be found at the link below if anyone is interested.

John, all of what you said is very fair. I hadn't thought about the actors being distributed throughout the park. It is no secret that the scare zones would benefit from more actors, so that could be great. I'm sure we'll start seeing more information over the next couple weeks.

Does anyone know how to put them in the Instagram format on the site?

Thanks for the picture, Connor. Much appreciated. Doesn't look any different from last year, but that's okay because I do love the look of it. Though I don't remember there being a person inside the middle section, but that may just be my memory failing me.

I'm excited to see what they do with the MoM facade. KD has come up with some pretty cool facades in recent years (No Vacancy and Zombie High stood out to me last year), so I'm sure MoM will look great.

I also want to see the improvements they make to the scare zones. I think The Lair or Cleaver Brothers could use the most work. The Lair just feels a bit too.... blah. I just think KD can amp it up a bit here. Clever Brothers looks great, but it is in such an open area that it is tough for the actors to jump out at people. Maybe throw some more props in for them to hind behind? The actors are great though. Also, the games kind of kill the atmosphere for me. I kind of wish they would close the games for Haunt, but I know that is a money maker for them, so that won't happen.
