Got a good look inside of the new maze of madness today. I haven't figured out why I didn't take a picture, but anyway, This thing is gonna be freeky deeky! I saw the whole front half of the maze in a framed up state. I saw at least 10 different hallways close together with door openings EVERYWHERE! I am going back on Thursday and I wont forget a picture this time. Hopefully the front will still have the open window/doorway thingy for me to poke my head through.

Very cool info. It's such a big area, so I hope they use it to its full potential. While I enjoyed Medieval, it seemed like there was a lot of unused space. I also hope they ditch the stupid photo booth thing at the beginning. I'm here to go through haunted houses, not to take selfies.

We have an all new Haunt website this year - and it's finally live!
https://www.kingsdominion.com/things-to-do/halloween-haunt

Quick Notes:
1.) I love the return of Maze of Madness - I feel like it's going to be No Vacancy/Zombie High attention to detail and a great facade.
2.) No replacement for Miner's Revenge? Wonder if they just haven't released it yet or nothing is actually happening, which would be rather disappointing because of the idiotic protestors.
3.) No new scare zones... kind of a bummer to me
4.) Only 3 shows? Not even one listed in the KD Theater or Grand Bandstand. I feel like this the show names/logos of the shows aren't complete yet and that's why they aren't on the website yet.

Keep in mind, the website hasn't been released to the public yet (only accessible if you truly hunt for it) and could very well still be a work in progress.

Anyways, I'll be doing my last pre-Haunt trip to the park tomorrow. I'll post an update of how Haunt construction is going and if I hear any rumors.

An update to the Miner's Revenge situation - rumor has it due to new ADA regulations, there may not be a new maze there at all. First Treasure Cave, now this! :-[

Even though it was always a weaker maze no matter the theme, it's always a disappointment to lose a maze. I guess that just means more monsters everywhere else!

The only "new" thing on the website is Maze of Madness. Maybe they will update the rest of the website after an official announcement of the new Haunt attractions. I find it highly unlikely that the show lineup would drop like that and we will see no new scare zones for the second year in a row. It's likely that the site is still a work in progress.

If they were not placing a maze in WWC due to new ADA regulations, then half of the mazes in the park would have to be shut down. One that comes to mind is Corn Stalkers. I cannot see someone trying to push a wheelchair through that one!

I am not sure if the 2014 Haunt web Site is complete. Only 3 shows are listed right now [Blood Drums, Overlord's Resurrection, and Haunted House 3D]. I assume the site will be updated; when the Haunt stuff is finalized.

I am not sure if there will be, or will not be, a replacement for Miner's Revenge. I thought I read a post somewhere, from a person who was hired for the 2014 Haunt, and they stated there was no replacement attraction for Miner's Revenge" this year.

If we are one maze short for 2014, then the lines for the rest of them are going to be crazy. I would try to go on a Friday night or the 1st or 2nd Saturday of the Haunt.

Here is the current link to the park's 2014 Haunt stuff:

KD 2014 Haunt

A few things...

1) I agree with what everyone else has said. I'd be willing to bet the website isn't completed. The biggest reason is the lack of shows on the site. While I don't do the shows when I go, there is simply no way Blood Drums is the only live show (I don't count the Overlord and Haunted House as shows). Also, if you go to the information about the hiring on the KD site, it actually has the same article I linked to in an earlier post. It still says six shows. Here is the link

One other big clue that the site is unfinished is the description for Maze of Madness: "As plague ravages the land, sending millions to a hideous demise…survivors seek vengeance for the deaths of their loved ones. Consumed with hatred, they mutilate the innocent as they search for someone to blame. The graveyards are full, but there is always room for more." That is the description for Medieval Macabre. Clearly have some work left to do with the site.

2) The lack of a new scare zone would be very surprising. If you look at the Wikipedia for Haunt, a new scare zone has been brought in each year since 2009, so not getting a new zone last year was unusual, but no new scare zone this year is downright shocking.

3) Anyone see how the WWC area does not fit with ADA? I don't really remember anything that would keep handicapped people from going down the path. Wouldn't that mean the entire queue would need to be changed for the summer? My memory is kinda crapping out on me here about the queue set-up, so I am genuinely interested. Maybe there are some stairs I'm forgetting or something. Regardless, kind of a shame. As I said before, I know that area isn't always great for mazes, but I was very interested in what they'd do. I personally enjoyed Miner's, even though it wasn't one of my favorites. Shame they couldn't find a new place for a maze so they could stick to 10 though. Maybe next year they'll be able to do that.

4) Glad to see the Overlord is returning. Saw a little talk about the Witch possibly spreading to other parks, but I like the Overlord a lot. The Overlord's Resurrection has improved a lot over the years, so I'm glad to see them sticking with it.

A few years ago KD got really beat up by ADA regulations; that's why Treasure Cave was closed in 2012 & they added elevators to all of the coaster stations that year. KD & ADA don't get along

Haunt XIV construction update & some goodies

I was at the park on Wednesday for my final trip of the summer before Haunt season arrives and took some shots of the new Maze of Madness in Dodgem and SlaughterHouse and thought I'd share. I also snapped some other shots and picked a few. Enjoy!

Also, I was shocked with the crowd at the park. It was a nice day and I guess everyone was getting their back to school trips in. I did manage to hit all the big rides with multiple rides on Intimidator 305 of course and Windseeker.

Check out the photos over at TPR: http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=54210&start=10730

I'd upload them here, but it always says my files are too large - even after I compress them.

Loving the look of Maze of Madness. So many hallways bunched together and it looks like they're using as much space as they can. Looks very disorienting, which is fantastic. I know we refer to them as mazes, but the only house that really feels like a maze is Cornstalkers with a few dead-ends here and there. It'll be great to have another one that actually feels like a maze. It just adds to the excitement going through the house. That being said, people getting stuck in dead ends can cause backups, so I will be continuing my streak of going on Friday instead of Saturday to avoid the large crowds :) (Last year, we hit 9 mazes - skipped Blue Ridge - did No Vacancy twice, and hit I305 and Dominator all in about 3 hours. For a few mazes, we were sent in by ourselves with only our group of 4, which was awesome).

I gotta say, No Vacancy and Doll Factory have been my top 2 seeds the past couple years, but MoM has the potential to be the top maze this year. I'm very excited for its return.

Something I think is worth discussing is what they will do with the Overlord's Resurrection this year. Since they've changed up the area with the flower bed, will they be able to to set up the skull and everything? The website still says it will be located at the front gate, but it just seems like the flower bed would screw that up. Any thoughts?

Haunt construction update 1 is now live! I suggest taking a look!

For Overlords, Ressurection, I'm unsure as well. I'm sure they could remove the plants from the hill and place the skull in front and add the back bracing to side the hill. The other stuff can be easily configured to make it look good. The steps that the overlord walks on to get to top platform would have to be altered as well. But I do see them removing the plants to put it in place. It's Haunt, so you don't need pretty plants :p

Or they could add steps facing the crowds along with a throne for the Overlord. But who's excited for MOM! I wonder what the length will be.

Did anyone else immediately get a mental image of the Overlord sitting in the throne from Game of Thrones after reading Connor's suggestion? If not, you probably did now and are now thinking, "Awesome."

Loving the facade for MoM. Looks fantastic so far. Can someone remind me if they block off the Auntie Anne's stand during Haunt? I can't remember, but it just makes me laugh thinking of walking up to this big, creepy building with gargoyles on the outside, filled with deranged lunatics running around inside ready to kill anyone that enters and OH MY GOD THEY HAVE CINNAMON SUGAR PRETZELS.

I'm interested in the acrobatic show in Safari Village. I imagine the stage has to be a decent size. Where could they put it is my question?

Infront of Tomb Raider.
