Re-grading the track bed will allow them to place the station where they want it and it will be less wear and tear on the trains themselves. But doing this will add some more cost into building the new train station, since they will need to re-grade the tracks between the bridge and just pass the new station site. But, I don't think the park wants the added expanse of this re-grading if they don't have too, that's why they picked that location shown in photo that was posted a while back.
The way the express train would work is, it wouldn't stop at the new station and only make longer stop at the Caribou station only to give the train ahead a chance to clear the next block, but still make the rest of the stops in between. But, on the busy days all the trains would make all the stops at every station, since it would tie up (slow down) the whole line and wouldn't make any since.
The Cpt makes a very good point why a express train wouldn't work and that was shows are done all over the park which I totally agree. But a express train can still serve it's propose if it's done correctly.
