Yeah, Le Catapult used to be in Castle O'Sullivan. That isn't a half bad idea. Very good.

As far as yea-round operation, I can see them opening the start of March to New Years no problem. However January and February will be a stretch unless they can create another event that can fill the gap. However, they could still open every month, provided they add enough indoor/weather tolerable rides, as well as over advertise like they did with Mach Tower, and plus a reduced price would help get more people in the park.

Imagine it like this, you can go to Busch Gardens, ride some of the best dark rides as well as see some of the best entertainment and be encompassed in an entire other world for a fraction of the cost since only the water rides and coaster will more than likely be closed (only 7 - 9 rides, which really is not that much considering the park had near 50). If you can visit Busch Gardens when it is not busy for cheaper and experience practically everything except 9 rides, would you go? Yes! Why? Because, the fact that it isn't busy and is cheap really pulls people in. After all, look at the $5 ticket deals. Dirt cheap prices for what? A couple of lights and a half closed park. People really ran after those. My point being, advertised right, priced right, and after adding a few more rides, you can really pull through.

This part of your argument doesn't make much since. Most people dont go to Christmas Town for coasters... they go for the lights and shows. Also, yes only about 9 rides would be closed (considering this is correct), but this would be 9 of their biggest rides, and most people dont go to a park for a few generic flats.

I think Busch could pull it off, but they will seriously need to look into what they can run and add some things that will bring in people as much as a coaster would.

Well, other than the $5 tickets, what about the $13 tickets that day for Howl-o-Scream? I am pretty sure that itself brought a ton of people as well. Either way you look at it, if the price is right, the guests will still come more and more.

Personally if they did tickets for Howl O Scream for $13 or so per person and only if they have a passport and get Christmas Town for free I would be one for that. I mean you pay more than that to go to the movies and Busch Gardens is a heck of a lot more fun then any movie you could ever see. I wouldn't want to pay any more than $20 and would really want it closer to $13 and maybe add in a couple free nights (like 2) for passmembers. But the idea of just asking which event you wanted free sounds even better and I was actually thinking about that too but I thought maybe I was being extreme psycho with the idea. :shy:

Where the hell are you going that the movies cost more than $13 a ticket? Regal Cinemas is 11, Muvico is 10, and Marquee is 9.50 here in Fredericksburg on a Friday night.

The Regal Cinemas in Tabb/Kiln Creek regularly charges $15 for new movies on weekends. The AMC in Hampton isn't much better.

Uh, but back on topic. I really see no good reason for the park to be open January and February. Hampton Roads is without a doubt a Summer place, and I have no idea why you'd want to go to a half-closed park when it's below forty degrees, with no Christmas Town stuff to look at.

For your info I go to Movie Tavern and by the time you buy tickets and get your food you've spent a crap load of money I said go to the movies not the tickets themselves LOL

My point regarding year-round operation and how it may affect ticket prices stands the same. They can lower admission prices in November - February to probably $30 or half of what regular admission would be since after all you are getting less rides and the day you want to visit, unexpected bad weather can occur. Then they will probably just add Christmas Town and exclude Howl-o-Scream. With all that said, if you add in some amazing, I mean AMAZING advertisement, and a few very good dark rides, they could pull it off. No doubt about it. However, I think year-round operation will creep up on us. It won't start all at once. I think they will add November first and figure out the HoS or CT issue on the pass. Then they may extend their season to the beginning of March instead of late March. Then add on, and see what happens.

You'll never see BGW open for the month of November. Between taking HOS down and putting CT up, it just wouldn't make sense to have the park open the extra 6 days.

I agree. Problem lies though...

How well has Verbolten been advertised? The marketing team for the park really needs to step it up. That's my main concern with all of this.

I agree. The park needs this time to make the between the two events or they will be working overnight shifts to be able to be open for the extra 6 days.

I'm sorry but this made me LOL hard.

...I don't see happening, unless some hard evidence starts surfacing. The fact that BGW has made some winter related renovations to their bathrooms doesn't mean they're planning on opening year round. Rather, wouldn't make sense that BGW start now updating their infrastructure for winter operations now that they now they will keep on having Christmas Town? Remember, CT is still reletivly new, and they wouldn't want to invest in something that they wouldn't be sure about. And while winters are starting later, who's to say it won't change to where such upgrades would be needed during CT. There is also the fact that no other park in this type of climate is open year round.

^ They are updating their infrastructure now... Sure some bathroom renovations aren't a big deal. What about the RPT expansion, the Resort, of course all the rumors(for now) about multiple dark rides coming in. We also have the future expansions for WCUSA. That may not play into year-round operations, but it plays into the bigger pictures.

As stated before, think Big. Just because it doesn't make sense to you, doesn't mean it wont happen.

Food for thought.
