Ok, NewsParcs did an interview with Sally Corp. back in October and during this interview, the Sally Corp. rep tells NewsParcs the following:

We have our biggest project that we can’t talk about unfortunately, but this is really going to be a blockbuster! It’s an interactive dark ride with a major intellectual property involved with it, a major location and a major park. We think it’s going to be the top of the industry, we will know for a year, but we are working to integrate some what you know. It’s actually slated for Christmas 2012.
Full Interview: Here

When I read that in October I had a really strange feeling that it could be for BGW but sorta threw it out as ridiculous. Then we heard about the darkrides and it reminded me about the interview. Things still line up like they did in October and I still can't think of "a major park" who would be building a ride that will be at "the top of the industry" and that's even open during the Christmas season other than BGW. Please, someone, come up with an alternative park that this could be going into- I know it can't be for BGW but for the life of me I can't come up with another answer...

I'll say this:

From a business standpoint, To open a ride in a park with only 4 weeks left in the season as big as that ride would be would not be smart. You would have all this build up of it opening only to watch that buzz fizzle out over January, February, and March. Wherever this ride is going is in a park open year around.

Which other than Disney is what(that's also rumored to get a dark ride)?

This could be what the Sally Corp. rep was hinting about and they have time to meet the Christmas 2012 time frame.
Universal Orlando announced this morning their classic Jaws attraction and its surrounding Amity area will close permanently on Jan. 2, 2012 “to make room for an exciting, NEW, experience” – and rumors point to more Harry Potter attractions moving in to the area.

I love controlling my skis with my pee. Brilliant.
I can see this screen game being different if they had one in each country in the park.

Hmm let's highlight the key words here.

A major park and a major location are probably the biggest words here, along with Christmas 2012. Everyone should know the most major park in the world, or at least the most famous being Disney. They have a few major locations. Do you consider BGW a major park in a major location? Also think about BGW's 2012 schedule and compare it to what is being said. BGW won't be open full year yet in 2012. So They would have built this major new dark ride only to have it open a week then let it be dormant for 3 months UNLESS the park decides to go full year January 1, 2013. Then it wouldn't be so dormant. It could be a way to hopefully test the waters and see if they can bring in a crowd in those three months.

After all, when Mach Tower was supposed to open, there were a few months of people coming just so they could ride that. If you have a few months of people wanting to ride a ride that isn't even open yet, but is supposed to be, I can imagine that this dark ride could pull in a few decent crowds. I also consider Williamsburg a major location as it is a untapped market for theme parks with the exception of BGW and KD.

Also think about top of the industry. BGW is always trying to break records and have awards and they try to do a lot. After all, they are spending new $50 Million on one coast just for it to have many firsts. There is no question they want to be top of the industry.

For this to actually happen it COULD be BGW, but then again it may not. This really is very vague short few lines. So, at this point there is no telling of what is to come.

Perhaps the interactive Despicable Me ride at Universal Orlando? It's an interactive dark ride (dance party sequence) with a major intellectual property involved with it (Despicable Me), a major location (Orlando) and a major park (Universal)... I's not a traditional dark ride, but Sally could still be involved somehow...

EDIT: Could also be the Transformers ride at Universal Hollywood: it's got a major intellectual property involved with it (Transformers), a major location (Hollywood) and a major park (Universal)... EDIT2: Nix that - Transformers is slated to open for Memorial Day weekend...

^ From what I understand, Dispicable Me is a simulator ride like EITA.

True, but Sally also does made-to-order individual pieces - could be an animatronic for the theatre or queue, like DAK's "A Bug's Life" or DHS' "Muppetvision 3D" - If it were just changing out a film, I doubt it would take them over a year...

^ But a few animatronics wouldn't exactly be seen as a blockbuster attraction from Sally Corp...

Also, if you take a closer look, a few animatronics aren't exactly something big and new. They have been around for a little while.

Lets see,

Major Location - Williamsburg
Major Park - BGW
Major Intellectual Property - Could this refer to Blackstone?

Just throwing it out there to see if it sticks.

Intellectual property generally refers to a fictional character, franchise, etc., to which certain rights and legal protections apply - the only "intellectual property" currently associated with BGW is Sesame Street.

This was discussed in some length in the chat room and Blackstone doesn't have any holdings in any major media companies besides The Weather Channel.

Coming 2012: Al Roker: The Ride.

Okay, I was a little off and thought it meant other somehow related companies.

Well then, maybe Forest of Fun is getting a high-tech brand new dark ride :p

I think the fact that we're looking at Dec 2012 pretty much rules out BGW... We've been under the assumption that this "project" is in the US - it could be anywhere.

In all seriousness, I think this needs to happen. They're adding their second high-intensity darkride this year (Verbolten). A kid-friendly darkride is something that I think is quite lacking in their lineup.

From a business standpoint, BGW adding a darkride that would debut in December doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me either, I just can't think of anyone else it could be for.

Well actually, I think they do need to create more kid-friendly versions of thrill rides, but something between kid-friendly and thrill rides.

See, the park is supposed to be a family park for everyone. I think they have a great line up of thrills and a great line up of the children rides, what about those in between?

Dark rides are really more something I can sorta do as being in between. For example, I could ride C of DK but it to me is a bit intense, that is what I liked about EITA when it FIRST opened. It was a relaxing immersive ride that I could sit back and enjoy while still being a bit thrilling, sorta.

I don't like being banged around or tossed around in circles, or going to extreme heights and this is where they don't have much as far as rides go.

That is the end of my easy riding rant. Now back to business. I don't see
Forest of Fun getting anything new anytime soon as far as attractions and such. This is what I believe are the two biggest points made.

Christmas 2012 and Major Intellectual Company

It rules out BGW all together, unless of course the park decides to go full year January 2013 and get connected to a major intellectual company other than Sesame Street.

Neither of those things rule out BGW at all. They can open a family ride during a family-centered event just fine. Is it the best best business decision? Perhaps not but that's not the issue. Furthermore, Sesame Street is definitely a "major intellectual property".

"Interactive dark ride": Probably would be a park without one already in their collection
"Major intellectual property involved": It'll be at least partially themed after a well-known media franchise
"Major location": A large and/or well known city or area
"Major park": A well-known park
"Blockbuster" & "Top of the industry": A park who's willing to invest a large sum of money to top what's already out there
"Christmas 2012": A park that will be open during December- probably with some sort of Christmas event

Busch Gardens Williamsburg fits all these perfectly and I have yet to come up with or see another park that does.
