Meanwhile, the guy infront of me was only buying a soda (who buys a soda at a F&W booth?) He asks the guy in front if he can go first. Guy in front looks at him like he's crazy. The cashier is still working with the cocktail issue at this point so the guy ducked the rope and walked off with the soda.

Thats stealing and not right, but getting just a drink at the park on some days is virtually impossible. We were eating on a hightop at Brazil and had 3 seperate people ask if we knew where they could get refills. Since the drink stand was not open in New France, and the line was about 3 miles long at the snack stand across from the Smokhouse people that dont come to the park often im sure get frustrated.

While this is true @WDWRLD we were standing at the Brazil booth. There's literally 5 places to get a drink within 50-100 feet of there. (Trappers, three Rivers gifts, griffon gifts and two of the shops in the Northwoods trader area have drinks.)

And the places visible to me didn't have crazy lines.

When we were in that area, lines everywhere were long. As far as Trappers, ive been told before when trying to just get a drink that I still had to wait in the long lines if you try to go through the front entrance. Bottled sodas are easy to find in the gift shops, fountain drinks not so much.

The lanyard this year isn't much of a deal. The break even has very few things priced above it. We've always used it for beer and wine, but those sizes are now so small they aren't a good deal. I found that out after buying a 10. The beer went from 12oz to 8oz and wine is down to 3oz. Still allows you to try more, but I don't like getting taken advantage of. The bangers were fantastic though.

The beer size actually varies. Many booths have two sizes; a sampler size (8 oz) and a full size (12 oz). They both count the same on the lanyard. But unless you ask, the cashier will almost always ring up the 8oz.

I got the IPA from Jamaica (highest rated beer in the FW menu) and got a full to the brim 12.

I think you got lucky. I don't have it in front of me, but I'm pretty sure the description of the sampler states that the eligible sizes are 8 oz. for beer and 3 oz. for wine.

It does say that, so it was my fault for not reading before buying. Should have know they might change it from last year.

And maybe it's a worse deal than in years past, but you're still getting 2/3 of a beer that sells for $9.79. That's $6.50 worth of beer, which I think is higher value than any of the food items?

I'd caution everyone to remember that your saving decrease, if you are a pass member. We have created a spreadsheet that calculates the actual savings with each lanyard compared to the listed price and the discounted member price:

Additionally, I'd note that the spreadsheet gives the most common 10% discount. Adjust accordingly if you have a premium pass that gives 15%. Or if you are a kingsmill resident and get more than that... :)

You certainly got lucky as the cashier is definitely not supposed to give you a 12 oz

So something that I meant to mention about crowds on Saturday but forgot to was that Saturday was PEMS day at the park. They had heavily discounted tickets as well as quite a few free tickets for people to attend the awards ceremony. I saw mention of the Black Forest picknic area and that was where the dinner and awards were held. I know thats not the only reason for the high attendance but im sure it helped.

New here. I did read through the whole thread but have 2 questions I did not see answered:
1 - Can I buy one Sampler punch card and share it with several people? (There are 6 adults going and I'm thinking of getting a 15 Sampler just to use for beer/wine. Will there be any issues with ordering 3 or 4 beer/wine at the same time and using just the one card if all the adults are present there in line?)
2 - I see some comments about the park running out of Sampler lanyards. I was planning to just buy the Sampler online when I buy our tickets this weekend. How does that work? Do I get a voucher that I then exchange for a lanyard in the park? What happens if I pay for the Sampler online tomorrow but when I go to the park in late June they don't have a lanyard?
Thanks for any help you can offer to get me straightened out.

To your first point, the lanyard can be shared among as many or few people as you care, they'll just punch it for each sample you get.

To the second, while I can't be authoritative, I assume they take online sales into account when they "run out" of lanyards. If you've purchased one, I would guess you're guaranteed it.

Then again this is Busch Gardens...

1 - You can use it for as many people as you wish, I witnessed one sampler get 5 punches at one booth.
2 - The park hasnt ran out of samplers. Each booth sells them, I bought one Saturday evening about 6pm and that was after reports of them being sold out. When I bought mine they had no lanyards so I had to check about 6 more booths before finding one.

Keep in mind as with everything Busch you will get varying answers from the park on just about everything so if they tell you something you dont think is correct ask again as you will probably get a diffrent answer.
