Probably nobody cares but me, but they have dropped the Spam Slider at Hawaii and they no longer include Germany at the Brauhaus. They had Schnitzel sandwiches and the brat dipped like a corn dog.
I think the vouchers will be plenty for us. Try different things on different visits. I assume the sampler will be good until it is used up instead of a one day thing. It was a good deal. I just don't see that much that interests me this year.

Unfortunately Canada is gone, but at least Ireland is still there, so my Bangers and Guinness Mousse are safe...for now. I am also pleased that the Hibiscus Lemonade is still at Hawaii, although there is a challenger with the Lavender Lemonade at the Herbal Infusion booth.

But Canada (New France) never left. Seems redundant to have a booth for a hamlet that already permanently exists.

The main improvement I would like to see is a little more thought being put into the wine selection. Let's take Italy for example.

Italy has an Orvieto, a Tuscan, a Pinot grigio, and a valpolicella

Orvieto and valpolicella are interesting in that they are very uncommon wines

Pinot grigio pairs best with fish or lightly smoked dishes

Tuscans are big and bold and go with smoked meats.

Neither fish nor smoked meats are on the Italy menu.

Not to get all wine snobby, but my point is that, it would nice to see them choose wines based on the food selection. A certain subset of their customers would go for the wine if they knew it was selected to go with the dish.

It would be nice to try the Orvieto and valpolicella just because of their uncommonness, but it would be even better if there was food to pair them with.

I think the idea with the wines chosen is more to give people some options they might not normally try

Possibly. But I don't think it likely. In my experience 99% of people who drink wine will just stick to what they know unless they have a specific reason not to.

Don't get me wrong, I like wine and I like that there are some uncommon wines on the list. I just think that I am in the minority. I just think it would be more financially lucrative for them to use well known wines with good (advertised) pairings.

Something like: smoked salmon (suggested pairing: Pinot grigio).

And then do the same thing with beer pairing as well.

In reality I'm just trying to get our lovely admins incredibly drunk because if FW started advertising suggested pairings... Well then to give a complete review, they'd have to sample all the food with all the pairings.

This might have a negative impact on the reviews though...

about 7 items in:
"Everything tastes like booze now! 5 stars!"

15 items in:
"Ugh, everything tastes like... " Clunk. "Zzzzz" ? Stars!

I shouldn't have said I think because I know that's the idea. They specifically choose wines with the idea that people can try varieties they maybe otherwise wouldn't. It's the same idea between having sample size portions for the items.

I do agree that would be a great idea though. They should suggest what wine/beer to pair with an item.

If the folks are as educated about wine as I am - "Hey, lemme have some that box with the grapes on the label."

Better yet, make wine samplers packaged like juice boxes...little straw attached to the side....

Always thinking
