Finnegan's is up today - both sides.

I just watched an e-stop. The swings had started and were on the 2nd swing when they mashed the e-stop. Based on the staff reaction it's the restraint sensors again.

As usual, they are resetting all the restraints.

After reset the subsequent run was nominal.

I was just about to ride today until they said it was experiencing technical issues ?‍♂️

Rode Finnegan’s yesterday. Great experience, lots of fun. The ride itself is terrific - I boarded facing the queue and really enjoyed staring down at the water from the height of the back swing. Restraints are interesting with their two degrees of freedom, one rotary and the other translational. My first Screaming Swing.

The automated queue line spiel was aggravating to many in line, since it repeats immediately and you never get a break from it. Surely that goes away with time.

...So. Finally seeing the vista in person from the bridge -- the area under the ride looks terrible, and I’m not sure what would really remediate it visually, absent a substantial do-over of the gravel surrounding the small stagnant-looking pond. Plantings uphill from the water will make those areas look nicer once they fill in, and it looks like the park has done some of that already. But the bulk of the area, framed by a gravel service access and the huge air tank not-hidden beneath the platform, is pretty sad.

I caught myself thinking, “Maybe I’m just being too harsh here. Aside from the willow that came out, was it really that nice?” If you find yourself in danger of falling for the same self-doubt, do what I did: just stroll over to the other railing of the bridge, ignore the fountain (‘cuz that’s a bit unfair), and dare yourself not to marvel at how beautiful it looks down there when there are lush plants and trees in abundance.

Now cross back over to the Flyer side and behold the gravel pond once more. Doubt, be gone!

Other BGW rides really raked a hillside or valley clean, and then saw it grow back nicely. I don’t think people tend to appreciate how bare Alpengeist’s surroundings looked when it first went in. Verbolten has been growing in better than I initially expected. These things take years, of course. But they happen. By contrast, I don’t see how the Ireland bridge vista will have any chance to do the same, absent some major improvements down in that little ravine. The current treatment seems purposely designed to prevent regrowth from occurring in the first place.

I think a nice elegant looking solution would be to use some lattice work and put ivy on it. Something that flowers.

Yesterday I got to ride it in the morning after waiting around 20 min in the full queue with both sides running. We went later in the day but the green side broke down mid line. A kids restraint was stuck and maintenance could not get it to open so it looked like to me they were removing the whole restraint. We left, and the ride remained down for a good bit but then reopened just the orange side.

After reading all this, I'm very glad I rode it when both sides were running well. Do the other Screamin' Swings have this problem in other parks?

I have only seen both sides of Barnstormer running when Dollywood was especially crowded.

Cool ride that draws lots of attention on the bridge, but I'm sad to hear the issues are so bad already. Hopefully they get it straightened out and it's not another mach tower. Also the valley needs lots of work! I think the lattice is a great idea!

Curious if the issues reported here are just the normal first year jitters for any ride or are specific to S&S swings.

Does anyone know if Skyhawk at CP or Barnstormer at Dollywood had the same issues and if they are ongoing or were cleared up after a season or two of operation?

Nothing about this is liek Mach Tower. MT had massive issues during construction and just never opened, once it did it for the most part worked.

That’s not what I’ve heard, from industry engineers (firsthand) and technicians (secondhand).

Yes, big issues up front. But also big issues ongoing for quite a while, of the “it doesn’t work” variety.

Doesn't help it was a prototype that wasn't properly assembled and tested before shipping. Then you stack on the drop mechanism issues, the vibrating seat issues, the contacting the ground issues.

Outside of BGW the Screamin' Swings for the most part have been fairly reliable, the only one I recall having issues was Skyhawk @ Cedar Point and that was mostly because of the cable snapping back in 2014. Once BGW's maintenance team gets used to the ride and its quirks it should be running fine.

A six ride shot. Can you count them all? New project - same shot but with ALL the trains on each coaster, too. This one lacks only two. It CAN be done.
1, 2, 3...GO! Where is ChickenKing when you need him?

Where is Alpengeist's lift in that shot?

I see Griffon's midcourse back there, but no Alpengeist.
