This is PURELY speculation/opinion here, but I expect one of two things to happen tonight/tomorrow.

1.) If enough fuss/complaints are raised, EiTA reopens tomorrow for an extremely short period of time then has "an official closing" to appease the GP

Everyone is approaching this as if they COULD reopen it tomorrow if they really wanted to, but what if they can't? I have no idea what the issue really is, but I just wanted to put it out there... It's a dark ride.. With moving parts. What if something complicated broke? And sure, they could fix it and reopen it, but they'd have to buy a very expensive part, or contract a certain repair team to come fix it. This might not be the problem at all, but it seems a more likely reason to shut down the ride at the drop of a hat than that they just couldn't afford to pay a couple of people to staff it... If it did break.. And I'm sure they know that NObody actually cares about the ride... Why not just close it!? Just a stab in the dark. :p

Sorry to hear that another indoor attraction has closed in the prime summer season. With The Globe Theater down since mid-June and now EitA. The choices for relief from the notorious VA summers is down to the Festhaus, Abbey Stone Theater, and DarkCastle. (Or browse through the gift shops to cool down.)

I always felt BGW was a park where there were enough indoor attractions/shows where spending the whole day there during the summer was tolerable. Seems strange that the park would take both places out of service so soon.

Remember that EITA has two ride vehicles. So they can swap parts from the other side if needed and only run one side instead of both.

Thanks! I actually didn't know that.

So... Not trying to be cheeky- I just honestly want to know- what other cost would there be to run the ride? The only things I can think of are staff and electricity. And would they just fire the ride operators like that!? Wouldn't they just be re-located to another ride in the park? So, then that wouldn't really save them much money at all. If I'm missing some other expense... Please enlighten me!

One common element for BOTH closed attractions this year is that BOTH were glorified movie theaters. Not sure why this would bolster a case for "cost savings", but it is what it is.

Why would they shut down two indoor attractions like this if cost containment were *REALLY* the main issue? Sounds more like a attraction capacity per performance problem than anything else. Roller coasters, despite their higher maintenance costs, still crank out more riders per hour than either Pirates 4D or EitA could do. Just saying...

Generally yes, the employees would be relocated. However, that would usually mean their hours and the hours of those they are being merged into would be cut, resulting in an overall labor savings.

One other suggestion....How cool would it be if they could convert the Globe theater into a dark ride like Pirates of the Caribbean type of ride? There seems to be enough space to pull it off, both inside the theater itself and the area behind it. Maybe that's one reason they closed it down so early in the year?

Guys, I think you're all missing the upside here. Now that EITA is closed, just think about all the extra time you'll have to hang out around that sweet new glow stand in Octoberfest.

Yes!! On to the next thing to biutch about!! :p

Now THAT makes sense!
Hey... I don't care that EitA is closed. The first thing I did when I read the news was a fist pump and whispered "YES!" It's finally gone! I was SO disappointed in it. What a waste of space. But I REALLY want to know WHY they closed it with no notice, and if it really is saving them money. Because I WILL care if they do this kind of crap next to Celtic Fyre or Alpie or even Davinci's Cradle. They gave me plenty of time to plan my trip and say goodbye to BBW (RIP! :( ). Just worried about the park.. And that "doom and gloom" forcast we are hearing from Zachary and others.

All I know is we have a dark ride (of which has practically no downtime and two vehicles with interchangeable parts) that was closed today with a notice on their site confirming it will be closed for the rest of the year. Please give me a reason as to why the ride is closed.

Obviously if it is closed for the rest of the season the issue is more than likely not mechanical.

So maybe low ridership? Well why not give a notice for those that do enjoy it similar to Pirates 4D? Why was it not possible to at least wait until the end of the season or at least until September?

So maybe Zach is right, and it is due to the budget restraints? There will not be any official way of knowing because the park would never release that info to the public, and those who have information regarding the budget are more or less higher up than your average team member and it would be easy to trace that to them.

So in the end we have a ride that mysteriously closes at a very peculiar time of the year. Let us see how this progresses.

Yeah because Mach Tower is definitely getting more riders than Europe in the Air especially as it sits broken down for a vast majority of the time. Just saying, use some thought behind this and compare this to other things going on in the park.
