Re: Entwined: Tales of Good and Grimm (2012 to Present)

I compare this show to Snakes on a Plane. Once you get what it's trying to accomplish, is much more palatable.

The biggest accomplishment for that movie took place in the bathroom.
Are you implying that Entwined should be even more adult friendly?

I know, worst photoshop ever, but I don't have anything fancier than paint.

^While it is a quirky show, I think part of getting used to it is the fact that many people here are generally uncomfortable with anything other than an Oktoberfest style show in that venue. If the show was performed in a traditional theater, and you were sitting back relaxed in a seat and not knowing what to expect, I think it wouldn't be such a difficult thing to "get used to."

But seriously, if we had that option (of choosing to see it in a traditional theater rather than having it invade one of the park's main eateries), I wouldn't have to worry about getting used to it. I could choose whether or not to see it without that choice being complicated by having to skip dining in the Festhaus or not -- and I love dining in the Festhaus!

(Just another iteration of the argument that perhaps Entwined isn't so bad, but it IS a bad show for the Festhaus, which should not be restricted to kiddies-only entertainment.) And I think many can be more relaxed about Entwined since at least its showtimes are fewer now, so the Festhaus is a viable dining option for a greater portion of the day.

As Nora mentioned in another forum, there is an open stage in Dragon Land.

I'd like to think I'm generally honest and agenda-free here, so in that spirit, I'd have to say... I don't hate it as much as I did the first time I saw it. I've seen it four times now. It's starting to grow on me a little.
^ THIS is exactly what happened with me for NIGHT BEATS. I absolutely hated it, but after some number of viewings I came to love it. It was second only to DIG IT UP on my favorites list. However, this new incarnation of Entwined is on an entirely different level. By the time I get used to it (IF I get used to it), the season will probably be over.

I stand by my reaction to last year's incarnation: fix the areas that need it first, then retool those that are popular if they really need to be "refreshed."

Look: I have no problem with keeping shows fresh, but there are multiple venues in that park, built for live performances, that are sitting being used for other things: Castle O'Sullivan, The Globe Theatre, The Royal Palace (for daily use), Land of the Dragons - freshen THEM up first. Obviously not all of you enjoy or "get" This is Oktoberfest, but if they really want an Oktoberfest atmosphere in that part of the park, don't change the authentic Oktoberfest beer hall - an over-the-top "family" show could go one of many other places...

Cutlery isn't in it but the zuppa pot is.

Giant cutlery and the zuppa pot are used in both Mix It Up and Entwined; however they may have stopped using them in Mix It Up this year, since I have yet to see the show this year; but they at least were used last year and the years prior to this year.

RE: Entwined: Tales of Good and Grimm (2012 to Present)

You know what, I just remembered that the dancer who "tastes" the soup uses a regular soup ladle this season. Could've swore they had a GIANT spoon last year.

RE: Entwined: Tales of Good and Grimm (2012 to Present)

Oh! Yes it was a giant spoon in previous years! Thanks Chickenking for that extra confirmation that Mix It Up has lost cutlery. I guess Entwined is more important that Mix It Up :p

RE: Entwined: Tales of Good and Grimm (2012 to Present)

My family rather enjoyed Entwined last year, but I've acknowledged in my comments here that I could tell it wasn't as big a hit as it needed to be with the audiences during the four times we saw it. However, this is interesting. I told my father about the reincarnation of Entwined. I told him how they completely revised the show, and how it's nothing like last year's show and that they brought back This Is Oktoberfest also. His response was that at least they kept some kind of new show and didn't completely replace it with Oktoberfest. Octoberfest was getting old and he felt we've seen it so many times. He said he really liked Entwined last year and was glad to see something different for a change. He said he hopes he likes the new version of Entwined and he was somewhat disappointed that last year's show only lasted one season.

My father and my family are fans of the park and have visited annually for two decades, but outside of myself, they are more like general public than theme park fans. I'm not saying the new or old show is perfect, far from it, but I wanted to show that what is being said on this forum is not necessarily the opinion of the average visitor.

It's a very plausible idea for the Festhaus to successfully present entertainment other than an Oktoberfest/Festhaus/Oompah band style show. In fact, there may be some demand for other entertainment there, and having two shows fill both needs by sharing the stage may be the perfect answer.

(Again, forgive me if this has been noted, but it's hard to keep up with all these threads sometimes. ;) )

Some cast notes (a lot of regulars, but some notables) ...

Obviously, the Narrator/Prince is the Doctor from Fiends.

The wolf is Ulrich, the lead from Night Beats.

The lead gnome is Igor from Fiends.

The giant is the swamp monster from Fiends.

Also, the Entwined cast is not doing This is Oktoberfest. They have a separate cast for that who is also doing 2-3 maypole shows in the afternoon in front of the Festhaus.

RE: Entwined: Tales of Good and Grimm (2012 to Present)

Basically, they got all the good talent from Fiends to do Entwined. I guess it goes to show you how versatile these performers really are.

The girl that plays Luna; I know she's done other stuff before, but what exactly?

RE: Entwined: Tales of Good and Grimm (2012 to Present)

Actually, from what I understand, she left the park after Night Beats. Really is quite a shame.

Does anyone know if the maypole will continue through Illuminights and take the place of Wunderbarn or will it stop once Illuminights starts and come back when it's over?

RE: Entwined: Tales of Good & Grimm (2012 to Present)

^
Maypole > Wunderbarn.

Caught another innuendo today.
Pinocchio Boy: "I thought I had a shot" (as wood grows). This takes place towards the end when our heroine is with the prince.

Also, the so-called morale of the story is a farce. Our hero lady says she doesn't need to go to the castle where the cool people are to be happy or whatever. But, she does exactly that. After Freakenstein reveals himself to be THE PRINCE", they go to... THE BALL! Where is the ball held? At the CASTLE!! Where the COOL people are!!!

BTW, Maypole > Entwined v3.
