RE: Entwined: Tales of Good & Grimm (2012 to Present)

We saw it over the weekend. I found this version to be much better than the last one. The dialog is a bit weak, but I liked the mix of original and cover songs. It's a good use of Material Girl, Goldilocks did it very well. Dancing Queen is a good chioce for the finale.

They missed a great opportunity for an inside joke. When Jack is first introduced holding the goose, they should have put a blond wig on him, ala Fabio and his Apollo incident.

Interesting thought outside of the box.

Just remembered a funny story while watching Entwined. When it came time to give the name of a street where you pick the "magic words", my baby raised her hand and got picked. She was certain she knew the answer. She said "Oak Street!". The guy wrote it down. I asked her why she said Oak Street when we live on Jefferson. She said to me, that is what someone said last weekend and the guy wrote it down.". Couldn't tell if this was the beginning of kindergartener smartassery, but sure enough! After checking the video I took the weekend before, she got it right. Smart girl!!

Yesterday the show was only getting lackluster applause. I've seen several times and have noticed that the public isn't fully embracing it. Very young girls seem to enjoy it, but young boys are quickly bored with it. I find it amusing and the song choices are better. I know it's early in the seaon, but this show may not last past this year.

It will be around as long as Scott is in his position that he is now. And I have to agree with you the public will fill up the Feesthaus anticipating a great show. Then they see a poorly produced train wreck and go out of the Festhaus disappointed. So even though there maybe a bigger audience for Entwined nobody really likes it and that is what keeps it around so long. Because the audience doesn't know what they got there selves into.

I saw the new version of Entwined for the first time in person on Mother's Day with my Mother. And my Mom used to be a professional singer herself and teaches kids how to sing today. The show did not impress her at all. But the real thing that ticked her off was the finally. I know the actors try their best and it's not their fault they're in a poor show. However, my Mom noticed how flat almost all the voices of the actors were and almost wanted to go on stage and sing the finally herself because it was so bad. The GP does not notice this but my mom definately did. And considering Scott did the auditions my Mom thinks he does not know how to pick good singers because of the ones he picked. Now I know that Scott wasn't the only one in charge of auditions but he probably played a big role. My Mom is very sad and mad that her old BGW is being taken from her by just one poorly produced show, and so am I.

^Scott is not the only person in Entertainment. There are many others that do auditions, and honestly Scott has many other things to worry about than auditions. I am sure he attends a few, but there are other people there as well and it is not fair to say he is the only one at fault.

I think Entwined is an okay show that is not amazing as others; but it doesn't deserve to be trashed the way some may feel. Entwined is entertaining to many people. It may not be ideal to you, but it is to others. However, I do feel a different type of show would fit better in that theater.

Something super important to keep in mind in Das Festhaus: The venue has awful acoustics. Unlike the Abbeystone, it wasn't built with stage performances in mind.

So my point stands. The GP is the group to impress and if they have no trained ear, well that sucks.

RE: Entwined: Tales of Good & Grimm (2012 to Present)

Yea neither do I but trust me when I tell you that my Mother knows what she's talking about when it comes to singing. But we also have to think about people who review the show, and they usually have trained ears. And if they notice that the voices of the actors are flat then how do you think they are going to review the show. Exactly.

Hey, my friend who is an a chorale group or whatever was laughing at how they sang in Celtic Fyre and I thought they did great. So I guess everyone's tastes are different.

I apparently don't have a trained ear either because I've always thought Entwined's cast sounded fantastic.
I'm going to piggyback off of Zachary's post with some positive comments of my own.

My criticism of Entwined has always been about the show itself. Story elements like characters, costumes, dialogue, storyline, etc. have just been lacking or rather too silly for my tastes. But, I do think the performers are very talented. Whether it is singing, acrobatics or whatever, I have never said anything negative about them or their performance.

Stepping back away from the show, I have always thought that the singing was rather pleasant, and sometimes catchy. My favorite song, and my daughter's, is the "Supper Time" song. As a matter of fact, I think they have a superb performer in the guy that plays the stilted giant. His voice is amazing!! It BOOMS throughout the room. Some have said that he was also the "Creature from the Back Lagoon" for Fiends during Howl-O-Scream, and that he has a repertoire of different voices he can use. I have seen him do his familiar "shimmy shuffle" in both shows during dance numbers. I think he will be a great voice actor in the future.

I don't see the stained-glass window lit up in your picture. Is that not lit up at night anymore??!!

Has it ever been lit up? I've never seen it light up before.

RE: Entwined: Tales of Good & Grimm (2012 to Present)

It is lit up by the lights inside. It is probably blocked by that curtain of trees.

RE: Entwined: Tales of Good & Grimm (2012 to Present)

Ah, but they never intentionally pointed a light right at the window to light it up? That is where my train of thought is.
