RE: Entwined: Tales of Good & Grimm (2012 to Present)

No idea how they used to light it up (if it was directly or indirectly lit)...but it was very nice at night to see the colors from light shining through the stained glass from the inside of the Festhaus. I even have a postcard that captures a great view of it 'lit up' at dusk.

Coming way late to this and honestly did not read the 40 plus previous pages. We always lunch at the festhaus admit husband is a traditionalist and loves brats and beer. We also have a 5 year old. Last year we loved the new show. I am (was) a theatre professional in my previous life and I thought it was great. This year I HATED it. Everything about it is awful. Set, costumes, book, tunes. There is nothing of quality about the show in the least. I felt bad for the actors. Glad for food and wine in June so I do not have to suffer through another performance.

RE: Entwined: Tales of Good & Grimm (2012 to Present)

I've actually heard a few people with a theatrical background say that they preferred last year's Entwined to this year's. Quite interesting. Thanks for sharing!

RE: Entwined: Tales of Good & Grimm (2012 to Present)

I seen the show a few weeks ago when I was there for the Styx concert. I liked it. Of course I didn't mind last years show either but I like this years version better. It seemed easier to follow the story and I found it nice that they had a moral to the story at the end even though it was contradictory if I remember it correctly.

RE: Entwined: Tales of Good & Grimm (2012 to Present)

Saw the show earlier today and it honestly wasn't apocalyptically bad (although the 2012 version looked like it). They have way too much going on at once, especially during their "party" ending.

b.mac....

Please don't encourage Scott with comments like those. We want Entwined to go away. Far away. Like so far, that even the fish in the Pacific Ocean wouldn't want to watch. And take that Teletubbies-esque stage & dump it out there too.

:) Just a little constructive criticism, amigo.

Carry on.

RE: Entwined: Tales of Good & Grimm (2012 to Present)

^Nah, it just needs to leave the Festhaus... I liked it when I saw it. But like b.mac said, too much is going on in some of the parts.

Can they just put Entwined in, oh I dunno...The Royal Theatre whenever there's not a concert going on? I could live with that....

RE: Entwined: Tales of Good & Grimm (2012 to Present)

^Wouldn't that be hard to take down and put back up for a concert? Hey look, it's KC and the sunshine band performing in a forest! :p

RE: Entwined: Tales of Good & Grimm (2012 to Present)

I saw this a few days ago and thought it was incredibly stupid. I appreciated how they tried to tie everything into German folklore and everything, but it was just...stupid. There was a lot more effort and money put into it this year, but I hesitate to say that last year's Entwined was way better in terms of the basic show itself. This one was a crazy mix of glitter and flash somehow tied into a fairy tale journey. Last year's was much more of a "Good and "Grimm" show of adventure, this year's was a flashy, cheesy journey. Neither of them belong in the Festhaus, but I feel like I could accept last year's Entwined (with some sprucing up) elsewhere in the park. This year's one doesn't belong anywhere...I was about ready to surrender myself to the giant pot of boiling stew halfway through the show.

RE: Entwined: Tales of Good & Grimm (2012 to Present)

Well I am going to BRAVE the show through YT today. Both versions. 2012 and 2013. Wish me luck. ;)

Okay I see what they are trying to do with the "Material Girl" and the "Diamonds are a Girl's bestfriend". Yeah, they better mash that up better. That's a Glee "try to" that flopped. Glee is GREAT at mashing up.. Can't say the same for this. PLUS those songs do NOT go with that. WTH are they thinking?! (watching 2013 first)

RE: Entwined: Tales of Good & Grimm (2012 to Present)

Okay.. I get the message (2013) that it doesn't matter about clothes or showing off, who you truly are is what counts. Yes I do believe that is important to be tossed to the young people. I don't get why they threw in dancing queen. I sat in disbelief on that. LOVED the acrobatics. I focused on them more than the other stuff at the end. And.. WTH does Goldilocks have on? That's a mystery in itself. Onto last years.... I better get a Coors for this.

Again, followers and not leaders. Once, one would only see top notch shows at BGW. Now they do typical park fare (other than Celtic Fyre). Carowinds has a "Halloween" show called Eternal Jamnation. It is also a Glee-fest that has nothing to do with Halloween, other than costumes.

For those slighty interested-
Eternal Jam Nation At Scarowinds 2011

(I hope the park employee lurkers don't see this link and get ideas for a new show at BGW :p )
