I don’t want ANY low budget executions of IPs. It cheapens both the coaster and the brand. It’s fine in kids areas, but regional parks should stick to regional themes.
Not only does it cheapen it, it limits the appeal a bit. As someone who doesn't care about comic book characters, a name like "The Flash" does absolutely nothing for me and actually makes me feel a bit like it's not really aimed at me, whereas as names like the Jersey Devil, Nitro, Runaway Mine Train, Rolling Thunder, etc, etc, appeal equally to everyone.

I don't really care about superheros either. So Superheros themes to me are just meh. Now if the theming is well done I still will appreciate the execution like with JL even if I am not a fan of the subject matter. A humorous term I heard for superhero IPs is "capeshit."

It doesn’t help that DC has lost its appeal in the last decade or so. Marvel has had a bumpy 4 years, but DC has really lost it in the past decade cinematically aside from Joker 1 and The Batman, the comics have been INCREDIBLY hit or miss, and their games have been pretty awful too. They excel with their animated shows, but that isn’t where most new fans are going to come from anymore.

Superman, Batman, Joker, Harley Quinn, Wonder Woman, and Flash will always have staying power as IPs, but there’ll come a point where they either need to theme to characters nobody currently cares about, or just stop theming to DC. Personally I hope it’s the latter, but time will tell.

If I were making a grand plan for the park right now, especially for consolidating the DC theming:

1. All of Movietown is now Metropolis. No DC theming outside of that

2. Superman gets rethemed to something Boardwalk related. Tie it in more like Jersey Devil to the local culture. Someone in another thread said Seagull theme which I think could be good.

3. Pirate theme from Joker to Skull Mountain. Send Harley back to Blackbeard. Skull Mountain gets renamed to like "Lost Treasure Cove" or something and the inside gets fixed from whatever the hell is going on in there now (halloween decorations off the rack with techno music for some reason)

4. Fix Medusa's theming, take down the arena and add another western-themed ride out there. Give Mine Train a fresh coat of paint and fix up the landscaping a bit.

5. Jr. Thrillseekers becomes Camp Snoopy, slot it in with the Pine Barrens theming. Perfect synergy out there.

6. Lean into the classic carnival feel of Dream Street through Giant Wheel. Say goodbye to Houdini finally. Spruce up the core of Dream Street so it feels less abandoned and more like its actually been powerwashed in the last decade.

6. Build a new flat ride along the lake front (maybe a new drop tower?)

7. Maybe the most important long-term. Tear out the Road Race, 4D building, and Slingshot and build a proper connection from Main Street to the Boardwalk through that back area. I know this would be difficult and cost a lot of time and money logistically. But if you altered the opening gates and allowed guests to enter directly into the Boardwalk area (espeically as the massive expansion and new rides hit that side of the park) walkability is improved so much. Getting around this park is a nightmare maze that has been improved mostly through half-assed temporary pathways. Its time to look at more permanent solutions.

8. Paint job on Nitro. Address the Boneyard somehow. Super low-rent to be able to see decades of garbage while riding what's the park's premiere attraction.

I like Houdini, but I do agree that it’s probably about time for it to go. Honestly surprised it hasn’t happened sooner, but with DDD removed, it would open up a large, coaster sized plot of land assuming the go karts aren’t far behind, and even more so if they decide to finally remove the old sim building. whole area has got to go. gotta be one of the least-profitable sections of the park for them. rarely is anyone on the go karts or slingshot, houdini is sbno for 80% of the year, DDD is gone. i've been a firm believer in pushing back the entrance, and opening up that area would be a major part of that.

maybe revived the old 1989 park entrance plan as part of your plan?

No more ride removals, especially Houdini.
i get the sentiment but if were already doing this much of a teardown i'm really of the opinion that we need to go full steam ahead and take out the trash rather than continue piecemeal half-assed improvements. if major work on the current section plus some more thoughtful removals and replacements allows them 4-5 years down the line to do a major push for the new and improved GA with something to show for it, not just a slapped together rebrand with a new paintjob

I don't consider Houdini trash and the park needs some indoor attractions for cold weather operations. If you prune too much off a plant it will die or grow back deformed, and GAdv already has extensive pruning. There is no guarantee that the park will even put in 8 new rides to replace the ones just CF ripped out let alone the additional rides their predecessors removed that were never replaced or poorly replaced over the years. With all the doom and gloom about the economy being forecasted, companies are going to be more reluctant about large capex investments.

Before people post about CF fixin up Paramount Parks, remember that the same CF also let many of their parks stay stagnate for decades with few minor to 0 additions.

Why on earth would you get rid of a charming and relatively unusual attraction like Houdini? If anything, I would advocate refreshing and possibly enhancing the theming. At least for me, a Madhouse is one of the rides I go out of my way to visit wherever I find one, because it simply isn’t like most other things out there (and they are a ton of fun).

It is also a great indoor family option, which parks need. Not everything needs to be a roller coaster.

I like this, but I don't even think Skull Mountain necessarily needs to be rethemed to fit in. It seems enough like something that would fit into a pirate world. But yeah, they need to make the inside more interesting. The outside of that ride looks so compelling, and then you get in there, and somehow the ride itself is less interesting the line to get on it.

I'd love to see them bring back Rodeo Stampede, and they could put it in this area. I always found that to be one of the most fun spinning rides, and it fit the western theme nicely. Plus, the park needs more rides like that. Coasters are great, but after being on a few in a row, it's nice to take a break by going on some flat rides, especially since they usually have shorter lines.

Medusa has ALWAYS been considered for removal simply because of its location and that it could be relocated anywhere with a flat piece of land.
I'd be fine with a Medusa removal so long as they replace it with something good. Throw an intamin blitz there (I can dream) to draw more crowds.

Seriously though if they do get rid of it, it's replacement needs to be a crowd pleaser because there's basically nothing of worth at the end of the park now (Toro is kinda to the side) outside of the restaurant.

I do agree, and like I said I’m a fan of Houdini, but I do unfortunately think we’d sooner see it removed in favor of furthering that area’s redevelopment rather than refreshed, rethemed, etc.

In an ideal world they’d kill the 4D sim building and leave Houdini as it is, but they truly seem to love having a giant storage box right in the middle of the park lol. Maybe with the new leadership, it’s a possibility, but I also don’t think anything would be happening in this area for another few years anyway.

This was a nice surprise of an attraction when I visited.

Skull Mountain has come up a few times here, but it looks like the area around the ride building is maintaining its shape and getting some reinforcement.

I hope they give the Nitro area a complete rehaul. The queue line looks like a prison yard.

edit: But this is still really amazing to see. It really seems like they're serious about this park overhaul.

On Coliwood's recently posted vlog and post, he seems to be really emphasizing Slingshot & the Go-Karts alluding to their possible removal. They've been rumored for years now, but especially this year have I really seen it in full effect throughout. Makes me think if he knows more than he's letting on? They're upcharge, low capacity, high staffing rides that gives on low ridership, would not be surprised in the slightest.

Why does everyone wanna remove DC theming?? I'm the biggest fan of DC theming at Six Flags parks, and if they ever wanted to remove it, they'd have to go thru me first. I read the comics, watch the cartoons and movies, and ride these rides cause of their DC names. I even have a Supergirl outfit I wear to the parks. I'm sorry if you're not a DC superfan like I am (I had the experience to play Scribblenauts Unmasked and the Injustice series when I was a kid), but there are fans of this stuff. Keep on pleasing them.
