I know it probably has problems, but it totally ruins that portion of the ride. And if it's a maintenance issue, it needs fixing this off-season too.

^That curtain has so many issues that it's usually just kept int he up position.

I would think so. If they can't even fix the preshow door, I don't know how they would fix a fast moving one like that. That thing reminds me of a camera shutter. Speaking of the fireplace, almost every time I enter that part, I hear one of the turntables make a loud thud, accompanied by around five seconds of no music. The musical score is so beautiful. I wish they could turn up the volume of the timpani(?) drums at the start of the flying towers scene. It really creates that extra sense of dread.

Ever wondered why the 2006 modifications took place? Well the park wanted Darkastle to be one of the best regional darkrides in the world so they went out into the park to get the guest opinions. They would ask them which scenes were confusing, which scenes were boring, and which scenes were there favorite. They concluded that the opening scene wasn't really wasn't following the story.

They concluded that the opening scene was confusing, the ballroom scene slowed down the pace and action of the ride, and they changed the ending drop so you fell into the physical cavern since it didn't match the screen version. They also completely changed the entire ride motions.

At least there was a time when BGW not only listened to their guests' opinions, but actually sought them out.

Well that wasn't the last attraction where they survey the guest. Opening night of Europe in the Air they asked my family how they could improve the ride. We suggested making the ride cycle a little bit more intense and adding narration.

From last year....

I'm not sure if this has been discussed before, but do certain scenes often not play? I rode yesterday and the dinner table scene was stuck on the beginning frame. It took me a minute to realize what was supposed to be happening.

That is the first I have heard of that particular quirk. But it is a complex system with a wide array of triggers.

I will say that I wonder if they made some upgrades over the winter. the images were better in places then I remember and motion, particularly at the table with the pig seemed to move better.

Rode it three times over the weekend and yesterday. Was freezes and resets in multiple different scenes. Never went through without a stop or reset.

I rode thur, fri, sat, and sun. I was shocked that the smoke worked thur... of course it didn't work other days.  I wonder if they have to fill it up? Air blast worked every time. Screen where you drop into the basement had one screen out multiple days so you could only see through one eye. One day he said "please come in" but it didn't have the "i insist" part. Also one day they ran out of glasses so the whole line had to stop while they went in a backroom to find some cleaned ones.

....edited to be less inflammatory... sorry if I offended any bgw employees

I hope you aren't calling the ride ops "lazy." I doubt they have any control over the supplies they are given by the park.

I assume it is maintenance that maintains the smoke system. But the ride ops should be checking and restocking glasses unless it is standard procedure to let them run out and stop the line for 5 minutes

you assume much. Are you basing your vitriol on truethiness or do you actually have data to base your conclusions on?
