Are vaccines currently limited to age 12 and over? I haven’t been following this since I don’t have kids. If so, do the rules only apply to that age group and not younger kids? I really have no idea how this all works but am curious.

yes and yes. Both the park and state are currently taking a hands off approach but yes the mask requirement still does apply to those under 12 since there is currently no approved vaccine for them.

Hey all. Stoney here. I don’t know if you all remember me but I used to post on here all the time kind of belligerently, I was the one who got into the Invadr tour then was bragging about getting blasted in the parking lot and trashing it.

I used to be a major alcoholic and was always on a bender. I appreciate you all for always being so kind and welcome to me anyway and allowing me to partake in discussions even though I was always drunk and all I talked about was sneaking booze into the park and slamming brews in the park.

I have been sober for a year and am visiting the park for the first time tomorrow. I’m scared. I’m vaccinated but a part of me is intimidated feeling guilty like I shouldn’t be at a theme park when covids still a thing? And I’m kind of put off by the idea of being surrounded by giant groups of people and all that. Will a Thursday in may be busy? Will I be disappointed by the park if this is my first time back in 3 years?

thanks everyone just want to know what to expect

Good to see you back and graduation on your turn around. Honestly Thursdays have been really light in the crowd department lately and the park has staffed up more in the last few weeks. I haven't been since the rules were loosened but with being vaccinated I wouldn't worry to much. As a matter of fact I have been every Thursday for the last few months and will be there again tomorrow.

I am just going to add this one point to vaccine and mask in general. Does anyone believe that Northam will not hesitate one minute to fully reinstate the requirements if we see a spike from Memorial Day from people being out and not following the current rules? I don't so like it or not if you were not happy with the old rules you need to play your part in avoiding having to go back to them.

I have received every vaccine I need. ?
I’ll see y’all soon in BGW! ?

Still evasive, or at least intentionally vague. However, I'm not gonna actually ask you if you have a covid-19 vaccination since that's medical info and I'm not an entity that'd require proof for anything.

Anyways, if your kids are under vaccination age or otherwise haven't had their vaccinations and waited the appropriate amount of time to build immunity, then the rules are pretty clear that they need to stay masked - I'd hope you'd at least have the common courtesy in any public/crowd setting to have them maintain distance from others as best they can for both their safety and others, especially if you insist they don't wear masks.

However, if that's not the case and everyone's vaccinated and has immunity, then nvm.

To be very clear, right now no one under the age of 16 can possibly be fully vaccinated, since it has only been a week since 12-15 year olds began the vaccination process.

As a result, per park rules that are in no way being enforced, anyone under 16 is required to wear a mask in the park. Until 4 weeks from now, this has absolutely nothing to do with whether or not people choose to have their children get vaccinated against COVID-19, and everything to do with simple math.

Which is to say that if the park WANTED to enforce the rules right now, it would be pretty straightforward for another month or so.

I think this explains it all....and from what im hearing no park is enforcing this, not Hershey, Disney, Universal.......none of them.

Disney and Universal’s rules have nothing to do with vaccination as of right now, though, which is a different approach and can be enforced more cleanly indoors and on rides.

Similar to how no one would ever get pulled over, when they are clearly breaking the law, by going 60 in the 55 work zone on I-64 through Williamsburg.

The problem is how the regulations are being implemented at higher levels. I do wonder at times with different leadership when this all started, where would we be at right now.

To clarify. What do y'all think the relevance of the park's poor enforcement is?

To me, the policy is the policy and as a conscientious guest I am going to to do my best to follow it. The term "honor system" is important to me. My honor and integrity are all I have at the end of the day. I can't imagine choosing to cheat the system, because front line workers aren't enforcing the rules.

Moreover, I want restrictions to be lifted. If enough people cheat, there is the possibility of tighter constraints, because they are easier to monitor and enforce.

I don't follow guidelines for fear of being caught; I follow them, because I am living up to my end of a social contract, I value my own integrity, and I want to support the group.

Speaking of policies and not cheating the system, I am appalled by the lack of enforcement with this one, and anyone not following it is clearly not living up to their end of a social contract: "Keep hands, arms, feet, and legs inside the ride vehicle at all times."

Not quite apples to apples as your example only endangers the person not complying. Would you feel the regarding parks not enforcing loose articles and some waving a phone in the air infront of you on Apollo or would you worry about it flying out of their hand and hitting your face?
.
Enforcement is hard especially when the govenor and state are taking a hands off approach. One criticism that I had early on in the mandate was that while it was technically a misdemeanor in Virginia not to comply there was no Enforcement against individuals that didn't comply only against a business that didn't comply and eleven then it was more or less just hang the signs and be done with it. If the rules were to be taken seriously they should have been Enforcement of them.

I'm not sure what one has to do with the other. I am talking about a system that relies on people being honest about something that is not being verified and affects their entire park visit, not a rule that can be easily monitored for the the few minutes someone is on a ride. I'm sure the comparison is funny, but it is hardly germane to my serious point.
