Actually saw 3 cars turned around at the tollbooth and took the crossover and left. First few times we went nobody questioned about reservations. The past 2 times they have asked not only if we have them but wanted to see them. Thought it was weird but just went along with it.

As far as distancing? It's pretty non-existent at this point. At the park entrance and any queue lines I have been in recently. I've literally been bumped into in line just like it was pre-covid. The only thing I see different between now and pre-covid is mask wearing. Most people do and I haven't seen an employee in weeks ask somebody to put their mask back on.

Today was without a doubt the least amount of people I seen since this started. Definitely no crowd and lines with maybe 2 or 3 people at most.
Maybe people are finally getting tired of there being jack squat to eat drink or ride

I mean, these stray Thursdays were always going to be extremely dead (I would have gone today, honestly, but had a commitment): colleges aren't out yet, no holidays, etc. I figure they looked at it and said it would be a chance to do some employee training, at least? Seems to be the only justification, honestly.

I think that social distancing still makes it likely that security screenings will continue where they are as not to bunch people up as much in the narrower entrance area.

Yeah, I think they're going to keep the current system solely to keep things distanced. I think if Virginia keeps hitting its targets and we see a removal of capacity/distancing in mid-June, though, they'd likely shift to the gate simply to avoid having to run two different setups.

Im sure the security will stay where it is until the state lifts restrictions on distancing. In reality the security checkpoint right at the front gate was a "no where to go" scenario if there wer to be a major secirity issue.

As far as reservations ive had them every visit but havent showed then in a few weeks now. Tonight nothingbwas mentioned at the toll booth and when I got to the main entrance the person asked "you have a reservation" and I said no even thoigh I did to test the system but he just then said they arent needed.....then why did they even ask. Not much as far as changes tonight, it looked like LeFrites was open at some point because they were cleaning inside when we came by. The cattle is back in Heatherdowns, the drink situation still sucks, but other than that same shit diffrent week.

In 3 weeks the park goes to daily operations. In my experience the real crowds hit around July 4. So they could need something to boost crowds by mid-June, if they can keep up. Or they will wait until late July at least to open Pantheon, to keep the summer going.

What day? Weekends are still heavily booked so it's possible that they are turning them around then but on lighter booked days you definitely don't need one. They even have placed bar codes at the gate that they scan if you are a walk up and have a valid pass or ticket but no resveration so thus is definitely policy not someone being nice.

Im not sure what will be the boost to crowds...but dont plan on Pantheon.
I’m sure BGW will say “hmm we need to ease crowds, so let’s open tempesto, our lowest capacity coaster that’ll do it”

Didn't get back here until now. Horseboy, the cars were turned around last night (Thursday). Right at opening. There is one particular employee working the tollbooths who has apparently taken it upon himself to ask unnecessary questions. He is at different tollbooths so I can't pinpoint a location but every time we have gone through his booth we have to show ID, answer and show reservations and give him our zip code. The best way to describe it is watch which line is moving twice as slow as the rest.

WDWRLD, I agree. At this stage of the game I just don't understand the lack of places to even get a drink. It still infuriates me to see the signs they have posted for the souvenir drink glass with "free" refills the day of purchase and 99 cent refills. There is no place to get refills. I am honestly getting to a point where they have taken so many benefits away without compensation that it makes me wonder how much longer I'm even going to try. At 70 there just isn't that much for me to do there anymore. Used to be exercise. Now it is an exercise in futility. Sure you can buy bottled drinks at the kiosks but you don't get a discount with a refillable mug and most times it is just soft drinks. I don't want to fill up on sugar. Even if you can find water from a drink location it has an awful taste to it. Obviously they no longer filter the water as they used to. When the heat of summer gets here they are going to have a lot of people suffering from dehydration if they don't do something.

As far as my mention of moving the screening back to the front gate is based on how they now have 2 separate screening locations to man. They seem to cut costs everywhere else so I just see it as a cost cutting move on their part. The social distancing thing? What social distancing? If you go when they open there is almost always a wait to enter the park. I saw the line backed up to guest services a few weeks ago. And, there is absolutely no social distancing. Every time I have gone has been a Thursday evening and this has been my experience. I can't speak to weekend crowds at all. I assume if I am seeing that on a Thursday that weekends have to be worse. I guess after June 15 it will be a moot point anyway.

I found it interesting they are upselling a new supper cup at Festhaus by the refillable cups…..All I could think was “give us more money and we are going to screw you”.

I have seen someone come out of the temperature check tent cursing once. Not sure

For what it's worth:
They did have one of the drink stations at Marco Polo's open unattended last weekend running only water.
There are also 5 - 6 places open where you "can" get free re-fills, but pretty much all of them have significant lines usually.

Not trying to defend the park here. It is quite annoying and definitely screwing guests over who bought a souvenir cup and do not know the park inside out.

If you do know where to go you can get by though with some waiting.

On what planet are vaccinations going to "increase" at this point? That's one of the requirements, right? Unless they just mean total given all time. That would obviously increase, but if they mean more given than the prior week, that's not going to happen now, it seems.

We hope that they open fully at that point their has been nothing officially said and I am still expecting closed parts.

Correct, they’re just referring to the number of vaccinated people continuing to increase. The state is dropping roughly 10-20% newly vaccinated individuals at this point.

I went to the park yesterday for the first time since they reopened with the restrictions. When I went through the toll plaza the attendant asked the vehicle on the other side for their zip code but did not ask me. But she asked me if I had a reservation, which I did, but she did not ask to see it. I went through security screening, and I can also confirm no temp check, just the normal screening. But when I got to the entrance the guy I had did ask for my reservation and scanned the barcode on it and my pass.

It's been so long since I posted here, I honestly forgot I had an account until I resurrected it. Now that I'm alive again...

Long story short, we live in Northeast Ohio, and started an East Coast (Sandbridge, VA) vacation tradition over the past 4-5 years, missing last year for obvious reasons. Our last steps in BGW were all the way back in 2013. Typically armed with Cedar Fair's platinum pass, we always hit Kings Dominion for a couple days on the long trek back north, but we can't wait to introduce our girls to BGW this year. We're headed there sometime between June 6th and 11th; not locked into any particular day, just whatever works while we are in the area.

I must admit I have paid little attention to what other states have been doing; I suppose because any out of state travel was just simply cancelled. We did end up doing Cedar Point for five days last summer with masks/checks/restrictions/capacity-restrictions...it was fun, of course; different and limited, but fun.

I'm mainly typing this because 1) it's fun to be thinking about returning to our favorite park outside of Ohio again, and 2) it's so very odd to see the imbalance in policies between states. I haven't read through the hundreds of pages in this thread, but I'm sure most of you may already know that Cedar Point is, for lack of a better term, mostly going to be "normal" in terms of operations. Social Distancing will still exist, but anything outdoors is mask-voluntary (including rides), but the biggest change is that capacity on rides will be back to full.

This has nothing to do with where Ohio is at with regards to #s, it's a Cedar Fair choice; in fact last summer Cedar Point had to sue the state just to open. Most projections for Ohio have us hitting the #s needed to lift restrictions by July (mask mandates, etc.).

I'm still looking forward to seeing BGW, but the last few pages of discussion are not exactly painting the experience in a positive light.

Glad to be back!

Not everyone is aware you can basically walk in and get one now. There are still perceptions about having to schedule ahead and wait for an appointment.

My interpretation of what he said was he was looking for the total PERCENTAGE of Virginians that have been vaccinated to increase not the number of shots per a week.
