Update on SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment Operations
March 13, 2020

As part of our continued commitment to the safety of our guests and Ambassadors, and out of an abundance of caution, we are temporarily closing all our theme parks, effective March 16, through the end of the month.
During this time essential personnel, including animal care experts, will continue to look after the health, safety and nutritional needs of the animals in our care. Our animal rescue and rehabilitation operations will also continue to operate.
SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment will continue to pay our full-time Ambassadors during this period.
We are monitoring this evolving COVID-19 (coronavirus) situation closely and coordinating with public health officials. We look forward to welcoming our valued guests back to our parks soon.
Guests can obtain the latest information on park operations by calling our customer care center at 407-794-0017.

What are you doing to protect the animals in your care from coronavirus?
At this time, there is no evidence that coronavirus is transmissible from humans back to animals. According to the CDC, no animals in the United States have been identified with the virus. The welfare of our animal ambassadors is always of the utmost importance to us, and we are continuing to monitor developments closely.

Our veterinarians and animal care specialists have a world class health monitoring program in place designed to detect illness as early as possible. In addition, our veterinarians have reviewed the list of symptoms coronaviruses cause in animals as well as response plans. Any new information provided by the CDC, Association of Zoos and Aquariums, American Veterinary Medical Association and local public health offices is reviewed daily by our veterinary professionals to determine whether the risk to animal health has changed.

Legoland Florida puts up a brick wall and shuts down. The California property has yet to reverse course (unless I missed something)

General thought, but if these shutdowns go on for a couple months or more, pretty much every 2021 project is toast. The parks will cancel contracts under force majure clauses and do everything they can to get their financials stable.

Curious how much that would force manufacturers to close shop.

If their employees find other work in the same field to keep them going before any reopening is possible, assuming a prolonged shutdown, then these companies are going to have to wine and dine the hell out of their experienced staff or spend a lot of time and effort on training up new staff that aren't familiar with the amusement industry and/or that company's way of doing things.

And the Las Vegas Cirque shows are down to one a night, with some not open 7 nights.

I'm still waiting on the announcement for the new show at Disney that's supposed to open next Friday as I have tickets to that. While the parks are closed, Disney Springs will stay open and that's where the theatre is located. I'm expecting the cancellation to happen any time now as the Florida governor has asked everyone there to engage in social distancing.

That's possible but a lot of 2021 projects at least within SEAS have already started work which means they have been making payments for a while so it's possible that most 2021 projects have been mostly paid for already.

Disney continues to do this right. In addition to agreeing to pay cast members during the shutdowns, they're now extending annual passes and certain multi-day tix.

Its been like that since the get go

I really want to know how they are "paying" their cast members. Its probably only the full time employees and it's probably at least for some of it they just have to use PTO if they want to get paid.

All I've been able to quickly grab was "The Walt Disney Company will pay its cast members during that closure period." I thought I recalled tip based would get an hourly rate computed somehow. But that statement in all their press releases doesn't single out FT only. If it does you'll read the eruption from PTs in next week's Orlando papers. I'm assuming PT maybe be based on average hours worked over a certain period of time.
