This crossed my mind, but even if it was people without reservations, unless every reservation holder for that time had already arived and entered the park, wouldn’t letting people in still be taking slots from reservations? Maybe if reservations were only a guarantee of admission in the first hour of the time slot it would make the situation you’re describing more ok?
Yeah it's tough to say. Without knowing the guest flow for this I can't guess but I certainly think it's possible that the overwhelming majority of guests arrive with the first hour of opening due to the time frame. I just think it's tough to criticize the park without knowing whether the guests waiting had a reservation or not. I will like to see them implement a couple of changes to the reservation structure for future events. Namely I think they should have some kind of no show penalty. Maybe something like you have to put $10 down per reservation which you then get back when you come to the park

I’d say that Penalty shouldn’t be that high. Maybe like 5 dollars.

As I said before I think one aspect that people need to be careful about is incentivizing people to come when it might be better to stay away. The example I used before of someone feeling off is valid. Also how do you address last minute bad weather calls? I am local if I have a resveration and that day it looks like the heavens will be opening most off the day I am not going. That is honestly a reasonable response given the park situation and likely would not preclude someone else from having a spot. I understand the frustration with the thought of someone booking a sold out day and not showing but I think a no show penalty is opening a whole other can of worms.

Interesting bit about the timeslots. I had a 5pm registration and showed up shortly before 4:30. They started letting cars through the gate at 4:30 and as soon as you parked the entrance was open and so were the rides. I was on the 2nd nessie train of the afternoon session at about 4:45pm

Glad to hear that but people's experiences vary. Last week I had the 11 time slot. I showed up at 10:45 parking was closed and stayed closed till almost 11 on the dot. The line for parking was backed up to where the merge point from traffic off of 60 and the 64 off ramp is. Wasn't parked and through the screenings till 1130.

Yep, can confirm.

Another thing to keep an eye out for is Alpie. I don’t think that it will make it before the end of Coasters & Craft Brews, but multiple people report it’s likely coming soon.

With the event being extended the extra week, curious what kind of turnover window they have before the September event if they’re preparing a coaster ostensibly for the next event now.

Got to love consistency. I wonder if the weather played any part in deciding to open up early

It was a similar situation for the 11am timeslot yesterday too. We didn't arrive quite as early as a half hour before, but we got over to FF around 10:55am and it seemed like it had already been running with guests.

I have been getting in early on just about every evening slot. Most times they hold you at the Arch by Celtic Fyre.
