What if I said I didn't like Ice Palace?

Because I didn't.

I for one am happy to see it removed, leaving the funding and resources to be used on attractions that I prefer.

If others feel different towards Ice Palace, that is fine, but for me it was a "one and done" attraction that I found myself skipping on almost every visit.

For me, removing Ice Palace removes what I considered one of the weakest attractions in Christmas Town's lineup.

Has anyone tried the new sundaes yet? I have to be honest, I am not sure how I feel about eating ice cream in the winter. But the peppermint mocha looks tempting.

Actually I agree with Thomas to a point. I always like more animals, for me without the unusual animals and virtually no rides I have exactly zero reason to go to x-mas town. (as a matter of historical record, I did with my sister and mother for my mother, I will not return)
What I agree with is the placement. It never occurred to me to use the area under Pompeii, but that seems like an ideal location. I could also see them in the EITA building. Plenty of space there.

But see, the argument that Ice Palace COULD have been much better doesn't work here. And I'm not saying that's the argument you're using, Thomas.

But the truth is, year after year, Ice Palace remained a small hallway with a few penguins in tiny glass boxes that really didn't interest me. I can't fairly say that I enjoyed it because of hypothetical improvements that could potentially be made to the attraction. I judge the attraction based on what it was, not what it could have been.

Maybe a better penguin encounter could exist, but that just wasn't Ice Palace. I always felt that to me Ice Palace, in and of itself, was one of the least interesting attractions at Christmas Town.

okay, maybe there is one reason to return. Also the cold only enhances the ice cream!

I wanted to try the Pecan Pie sundae, but unfortunately I hadn't gotten to it yet. I think I'm more intrigued by the new pastries for sale, which will hopefully compensate for the people who may not want ice cream in the colder temperatures, but with that said, I did see a good amount of people buying sundaes at Joesphine's this past weekend. I saw several of them sit down with one to watch 'Twas that Night.

So just so the class is 100% clear on your position, the impact on the event as a whole takes a backseat to your personal preference which is to hyper-focus the event on one very specific aspect of the whole park experience (shows), yes?

Remember the last time something like this happened? It was Howl-O-Scream 2012.

Turns out putting all of your eggs into one basket is a very unwise choice. Diversification is key. This is especially true for a theme park as their goal is to create a overarching experience, not present a bunch of different versions of the same thing- whether it be shows or coasters.

If BGW started slicing off everything but its coasters to add a new coaster every two years, we'd all call out the park for turning down the route of an amusement park (and rightfully so). Why shouldn't we be doing the same when they start operating fewer rides and now start cutting down on existing non-show attractions? Spoiler: We should be calling them out.

People need to step back, put aside their personal likes and preferences, and look at this objectively because if you're identifying the signs and following the curve that's being created, you'd realize that things are starting to go sideways with Christmas Town.

The great thing about having ice cream on a cold day....doesn't melt on you. ;)

Zachary, perhaps you are misunderstanding my posts. I never claimed to argue that removing Ice Palace somehow magically improved the event as a whole. That's simply not the case. If others interpreted my posts as such, I apologize for being unclear, because that was NOT the point I was making.

Just because I am glad funding is left behind for attractions I prefer, does not mean I see an improvement in everybody's experience. I do, however, see an improvement in my own experience.

I never pretended removing Ice Palace suddenly improved the event for everyone. I said removing Ice Palace improved the event for ME.

I merely stated my opinion, which is that I did not like Ice Palace and prefer 'Twas That Night. Surely we are allowed to express our own opinions on this forum?
