Random question that I'm sure has been addressed elsewhere but I can't seem to find an answer- why has the Christmas Marketplace area in Oktoberfest gotten so much smaller and lamer over the course of its time at Christmas Town? When all other aspects of the event have gotten bigger and better, it seems odd to me that this (once very cool) feature has all consistently been scaled back, so I figure there must be a reason for it. I for one thought this was a really cool and unique feature the first year I went, and good for the local merchants involved!

I wouldn't say it's scaled back. They only opened up a few of the games, on one side an then the park setup their some of their own booths instead of outside businesses.

I've heard the businesses were getting a bad deal to showcase there, I'm not sure how much of that is true, but if so it could be a deterrent to get local businesses to request it.

The park demanded a cut of what outside vendors sold that was not acceptable to them (between 20-50%). Opting to not attend was a smart business move on part of the vendors, a bad one on part of the park, and the paying public suffers as usual.

You'll notice that last year you had to pay at a park register instead of at the booth as before. That is so that park could tally their take. The park filled the missing gaps with "fake" park merchandise booths setup by the park.

I'm sorry, but the picture on this thing has got me weak. There is a girl staring at a section of a Christmas Tree no bigger than a square foot in complete awe. Did one of the blinking lights fascinate her or something?

I might be part of that demographic. Also, who doesn't use reflective objects to check hair and makeup?

I check my hair regularly in shiny objects to be certain I have not hit the "dirty hippy" line with hair length.

nono, I avoid looking at myself. I am afraid I may turn to stone. I limit the activity to putting on bow ties, shaving, and verifying regulation hair length.

I was thinking something like the Carol of the Bells light show at BGT, just on a much bigger scale:

If done right it could be amazing. Of course the song selection would be different to fit Polar Pathway's theme, and it would only be periodical to make sure you can enjoy Polar Pathway in itself in between showings.

Coincidentally, a few friends recently used the tree in the back room of the Germany Christmas Shop for a selfie.  This room is one of the few locations in the park that doesn't seem to have changed through the years.  Why should it?  It is always Christmas here.
