Today is supposed to be dry so the lights should be fine. It's been raining quite a bit this week so it doesn't surprise me to have a few lights short out from all the moisture.

I did a walk around the park yesterday and only noticed the tree lights around Da Vinci's garden being out. Didn't notice anything else.

I went to the park today. Pretty dead as expected.

So, either half the lights shorted out over the week or they just didn't care enough to turn them on. Half of San Marco's tree's lights were out/not on. I counted 5-6 trees that fell over and weren't picked up. Half of Oktoberfest's bridge's decorations over by Rhinefeld were out/not on. Half of the Train's course's trees were out/not on. Half of England's trees were out/not on. Half of Wild Reserve's trees were out/not on. The area with Santa's sleigh and reindeer in Aquitaine was out/not on completely. Stars were out/not on in both the entrance, and Heatherdowns. And the list goes on and on. Just because there were few people in the park, doesn't mean quality isn't important. It was getting a bit ridiculous seeing the light displays out everywhere around the park.

Both Nacht Tower and Verbolten were up and running though.

Believe it or not electricity doesn't like water. So all the outages you see are most likely due to rain. The gfci will turn off the lights if rain gets in and once rain gets in....that gfci will be wet all night. Fact of life. If you don't like the trees being off due to inclement weather...perhaps you should go to the park when its not raining. :p

Yeah the GFCI trips are a big nuisance when it rains. There are ways to alleviate it and help prevent it but I know I had to make the changes myself last year, the way it is set up from the get go is just asking for problems in the rain.

There are things like picking connections off the ground as much as possible, keeping the connections between trees as few as possible, and of course keeping the distro boxes in areas that are easy to get to for resets all would help in maintaining the lights.

But when setting up no one thinks of that and most techs just don't care enough to make the changes. They just run around like chickens with their heads cut off resetting things. And of course if it doesn't reset right away they just move on and "go back to it" later. (They rarely go back to it for hours).

I don't know why you're acting like I don't know that electricity doesn't like water? I do understand that, and you're also acting like I didn't list electrical problems as a possibility, because I obviously did. But I would think that the park would waterproof their stuff, for an event like this. It's no really big deal for me, because I can go back whenever I want, I was just thinking about how the people who chose tonight to go, as their one time to go. Because quality should always be a priority to help draw people back to the park, no matter if it's rainy or not.

BTW, great job CK!

We went today. Weather was nice. Park was empty. We were able to ride front row on verbolten numerous times with no wait. Had front table seats for deck the halls. Complete walk up for penguin and Santa. And they let us do a round trip on flight of lights.

We walked by dasher's diner and there was literally no one eating inside.

Overall we had a great time, but it felt like a ghost town. Going back tomorrow!

Scenes from the three main shows in Christmas Town. (Sorry I haven't been around much; it's the busiest time of year for my photography business.)

How is Christmas Town this year? I haven't been, and when my parents went there were only 60 people in the park and all the rides and shows were shut down / cancelled (something about inclement weather, they got a bunch of free tickets out of it though)

The park is as beautiful as ever. The weather has been pretty miserable throughout the month (rain/cold temps), so the park isn't as busy as it normally is, but that's good for anyone coming to the park to play.

All three shows are definitely fantastic. Gloria and Miracles are better than last year and Deck the Halls is still very good.

Verbolten is running really well too. It was became pretty rattly throughout the summer and into HOS, but I guess the three weeks of downtime really helped. It's about as smooth as it was when it first opened.

We are heading to the park, and I am getting worried about crowds, given the warm weather. I know it is too early to say definitively, but any theories on how busy it will be tonight?

Don't know if anyone was at the park besides the two above posters last night, but it was one of my best trips to the park ever, and I say that with the utmost of confidence. This was my first CT visit since 09, and I was literally blown away at how fun this event was. Got there around 5:15, and we just hung out on the train for a little bit and watched the amazing lights for the night, while hitting Verbolten and hitting up the Pretzel house.

My group REALLY wanted to see the 9:00 showing of Gloria last night, but we got sidetracked somehow and we weren't able to make it, but we did get to see the 9:30 showing of deck the halls, which was awesome. Headed out of the park at about 10:30 after a pleasant sky ride.

After my 2 visits this summer( MUCH less than normal), I wasn't happy with the park at all and thought it resembled more of a amusement park than a theme park. But last night changed my mind, the place was transformed into a place that brought extreme cheer into not only my heart, but my friends and family too. So for that, I thank you BGW :)
