Hoping to go this Sunday. I know Friday and Saturday will be crazy busy, but I hope that most people will be getting ready for work or traveling home on Sunday. Plus right now the weather report is looking nice!

Did I see in an earlier post that the Schnitzel sandiwch is back?

Also, did anyone see the Gingerbread men photo op this year? My kid has been asking. She'll make do with Frosty, but she's all about those Gingerbread men!

All photo ops aside from Santa seem to be gone. No Gingerbread Men, no Penguins, no Polar Bears, no Frosty and no, I don't get it either. To quote Pretzel, I just don't think the park wants to make money this year. Hell, even The Royals in Aquitaine don't have an official park photographer selling pictures. It seems like the park is just throwing money out the window.

I'm actually interested to know why they don't have Pierre and Penelope out for pictures. From what i have heard tonight was an employee social and the penguins were out for photos, same costumes and everything.

I will say that the Coke bottle ring toss was relocated from Holiday Hills to Aquitaine because it was not making a lot of money in Holiday Hills, so it took over the photo spot area. Maybe they can find a new place for penguin photos like perhaps in the Ice Palace? Plenty of space for a photo op somewhere in there I am sure.

Only obstacle you run into moving the Penguin photo op into the Ice Palace is stacking. The walk through always has stacking issues, and that photo op would simply cement the problem.

Still have no idea why the photo ops were scrapped this year. Wouldn't be surprised if we see them materialize this weekend.

My only thought about the photo ops is perhaps they weren't making money? A lot of people love to get their picture taken with the animals/creatures/costume things, but does anyone really ever buy the pictures from the park or do they just take a picture with their cell phone/camera?

That is all I can think of as being a plausible answer.

Skyrider, yeah that is true. The line I was in one night was not very long but it took forever because people stopped at the first viewing area. After that it was a breeze right through. Hmm, not sure how to solve the problem, perhaps use the patio area where the Demon DJ was? Just add some sort of shelter so it won't have to be weather permitting.

Found Penelope & Pierre...

Maybe the photo ops were just not out this first weekend since the crowds were so low?

I saw them Friday and Sunday. I would imagine that their costumes would require breaks ever so often; especially the Queen. That hair piece looks very heavy!

I love the performers in France this year! I saw this little girl go up to the Queen to get her photo taken and she was so happy. I was instantly drawn back to the time when I was her age (7-ish) and things like that were larger than life.

Things like this create memories. The extra mile of effort on the park's behalf to provide these quality perks of Busch Gardens- creates lifetime memories. I hope they continue and to expand with more actors and performers.

The Royals are the best thing the park has done with CT this year. They're actors who entertain guests and enhance the theme of the area.

It almost disturbs me, when I see Scott doing cool things like this that give me a little hope for the park compared to the loads of crap he traditionally puts on, which in itself is kind of frustrating. :\

As I understood, they are out for an hour, then break for a half hour. Their "show" ( in quotes because I am told they do what they want to do) goes on continuously.

Yes. The Queen has had multiple "technical difficulties" with her dress. She has declared that the darn thing is VERY HEAVY and getting heavier every time it gets "repaired" in order to keep it sticking up and out. We were told that whalebone would help, but for obvious reasons, this is not a possibility. :D
The hair piece is more of a decorative theming element. Check out the details of the Queen's costume...

I have always managed to get pictures with any character I wanted. The key is hitting your photo op on a slow day, like a Friday night. The hardest one for me to get so far was with the Pumpkin Twins in the Jack is Back show. I got a straight 'no' when I asked, but I persisted, got the show's director involved, and a few minutes later we were posing with the Pumpkin Twins.

The show managers in Festhaus have always been quite nice on photo op requests. I've gotten pictures with Ulrich, along with the Prince and Princess from Entwined. Actually, I had seen the Prince in the Festhaus prior to the show and asked him directly. Not a problem, just be by the door at the shows end.

You should be able to get a picture with at least '1' Gingerbread man. Like I said though, pick a slow day when there isn't many people there. If you go there when the Festhaus is totally packed, you'll understand why they can't keep a Gingerbread man there for pictures, as people start lining up.

I like the challenge though. Good Luck! :)

Zach:

I think there will be a Gingerbread photo op area across from Dasher's Diner, in the same spot as last year. I noticed, on Sunday (11-24), that area was decorated and set up as if it will be a photo op spot. I think because of the cold and low crowd, there wasn't anyone in it on Sunday.

Did you happen to notice if the Frosty photo area was set up? If I remember, last year that was near Dasher's Diner also.

I imagine her neck and back feel none so great hauling those things around, all night. Looking forward to seeing them Friday. Thanks for the detail photos!

I was wondering if the web cam would be up for CT so I inquired about it. The reply I got was that there was no plan for the web cam at this time.
