RE: November 22-24, 2013: CT opening weekend

I assumed as much - even though I'm open to anything. I was just curious. I've heard the joint is mired with screaming children and all things Christmas.

Not my idea of a good time. But y'know, different strokes...

RE: November 22-24, 2013: CT opening weekend

I differentiate between the religious aspects of Xmas and many of the holiday traditions, which are largely Pagan in origin in origin anyway.

CT is more the latter than the former. It is a lot of lights and food and drinks and shopping. I have successfully avoided the kids, myself.

It is freaking cold, however. Especially the train.

RE: November 22-24, 2013: CT opening weekend

I was really just saying that if you don't really like the holiday as a whole, this event might not be for you. I mentioned my religion because he was asking for an opinion as an atheist.

I don't go to church and I've never been what you would call religious. That said, I think no matter what religion you are, pretty lights are nice to look at, and like CK said, everyone is entitled to have a little fun. It's not like your going to CT to hear a sermon or anything. Of course, if you celebrate Christmas, it may mean more to you than someone who doesn't.

I do the same thing at CT as I do at HOS or any other time of the year I go there. I see some shows, I eat some food, I hit some coasters and I drink some....

RE: BGW Christmas Town 2013

I think people are taking what I asked out of context.

I merely stated, being cold and an atheist has kind of swayed me from going in the past. Therefore, the question was, are there other good reasons for going?

Nothing more. Nothing less. For example, maybe riding Apollo's Chariot in the dead of Winter is totally badass. Maybe, the food is way better. I don't know. That's why I'm asking.

I don't care about your religion nor am I trying to deflate your special time of year.

RE: BGW Christmas Town 2013

I would say the only religious aspect to CT would be the show Gloria. So, if you wanted to avoid the religious aspect of Christmas, you could do everything in the park, and just not see this one show.

However, I am not Christian, and I enjoy Gloria. Personally, I can enjoy the music and singing (which is really well done in this show, IMO), just as I would any other musical show.

PS Sometimes it could be REALLY cold, but sometimes the weather is quite pleasant.

RE: BGW Christmas Town 2013

As always, a good reason to go is to hang out and have fun with good people. I hear this one guy, chicken-something or another, is pretty cool! You can usually find him on the train or talking to performers and taking pictures.

PK: I wasn't disagreeing with you.

Reggae: not my religion. That my point. If you like things like lights and hot chocolate it is worthwhile. Otherwise, probably not. The year Griffon was open was cool, but not worth CT in and of itself.

They pretty much turn everything into Christmas stuff. Most of the food menus are converted to classic Xmas food, music is both international and domestic Xmas music, and so on. It's also silly to go for the rides since they're mostly closed.

The park does a really good job transforming it to match the holiday, but that goes to what I said before about if you don't enjoy the holiday, it's going to be difficult to find something you like compared to the normal season.

Basically, like most everything else, it's worth experiencing at least once. Worst that could happen is you don't come back. You're not going to have a bad time.

I'll find the down side of anything - just give me time.

That being said, the cold is probably the biggest factor. We just flew back from a Southern California tour last week and I'm FREEZING.

^This^

But anyway, I love Christmas more than anything. I'm the kind of person that if I lived in a house and not an apartment would decorate my house from roof to lawn to sidewalk in lights like you see on YouTube. Friggin love Christmas.

Which is why I think I love Christmas Town more than any other time in the park except maybe early spring when there are ZERO events or overlays on the park. Gotta love "raw" Busch Gardens Williamsburg.

RE: BGW Christmas Town 2013

Christmas Town should be on par with the SoCal Christmas offerings. If you don't really like attending those, then CT isn't right for you. Note that Bolt and all the flats will be the only rides open. Train and Skyride will be too.

RE: BGW Christmas Town 2013

Here's something i don't understand, if there is all this talk of BGW building more dark rides so that they can stay open year round, why are their two dark rides closed for the winter season? Makes no sense to me.
