If you want penguins, you really need to go to Sea World. They are just sad in those little display cases at CT. I don't care that they have space backstage or whatever. Penguins are supposed to be able to run and swim around and do penguiny things.

How is the penguin tour? I thought about doing it, but decided against it last year. (See: Sea World comment above.)

Penguins are awesome!

I have to admit, I really don't like the train at CT. (Sorry, CK). I am cold, the air is cold, and those metal seats are freezing.

It always seems like a good idea in theory and halfway around the track I start shivering.

Nic, I love Christmas Town because it does have a feeling to it that I think the park really did a great job with. As I recall they said when guests walk through the park they want them to say "Now this is Christmas" and they really delivered.

The 6-7 million lights add a lot, along with the decor. All the little touches make it what it really should be. I haven't really ridden the train ride, but I did once and it was really nice.

In my full opinion, I think I only go for the experience, the feeling, and the overall atmosphere of the park. I also think that the coasters being closed reinforce the idea that Christmas Town is not just rides like the regular season is, Christmas Town is much more.

It's too bad they don't have room on the paths for horse carriage rides. This is pretty cool in Roanoke during "Dickens of a Christmas". One can wish...

THAT would be amazing!

Back when the "new" Highland Stables first debuted in 2010, there were plans to have horse-drawn carriage rides as some sort of upcharge experience somewhere in the park during Christmas Town. I believe there was also talk of an upcharge horse-drawn hayride attraction for families during the day in the fall as well. As you can tell, neither of those things ever came to fruition- much like the sheep herding demonstrations we were promised but, alas, that's another topic for another thread.

Well from what I can tell the carriage rides was only a failed idea because the park pathways would not allow it, especially when it is crowded.

Nothing is set in stone but Irish trio is cut and possibly carolers replaced.
