More than likely it is because the rides aren't made to operate in those temperatures/conditions.

Yeah i heard that 40 degrees is the cut off point. it makes the wheels brittle and makes the brakes and fluids thicker so it cant close the brakes fast enough.

I don't mind having the coasters closed, Christmas Town is great as it is. In fact, (This is gonna sound sooo cliche) but Christmas Town is my favorite time of the year at Busch. The atmosphere is absolutely perfect, I could take a lap around the park, and I would feel like I got my money's worth. There is nothing like warming up by eating a huge Smokehouse dinner when it's cold outside. Or drinking hot chocolate while watching O Tannenbaum.

Does anyone else think setting up more lights near the train would be a great idea? I would love it if they set up light gardens near the train. I look forward to the new show + eating + 1 million lights in Italy this year.

They could have Alpie or Nessie open during CT, but I wouldn't mind if they didn't.

I say keep it how it is as well. The price is right and the atmosphere is perfect. Just fix the penguin attraction...

I agree with pretty much everything you said. I love Christmas in general. As good as the atmosphere is for HOS, CT takes it to a new level.

I had the Smokehouse dinner as well last season and loved it- to be honest, if I had the money/calories to spare, I could probably spend 3-4 trips going to the park just to try the new foods. The culinary team is amazing there.

As for the train, CT would be the time of year to do a train ride as an attraction. I realize it would be a bit cold, but unlike HOS, the train is one of the few things that is actually open. I know they have said there have been problems with the train in the past, but they could still stop it at each stop easily and give people a good view of a few different sceneries. I guess this goes along with your idea of the penguins as well (although I really didn't have to wait long)- they need a few more attractions. I know it's harder to do since it's not like you can do a Christmas themed haunted house (though how awesome would that be?).

Maybe something as simple as having fake snow/shaved ice falling and having some sort of factoids with it. Sure it may not be the most interesting thing in the world, but it least it will keep the attention of a few dozen people every 10 minutes.

The train could be made into a great attraction for Christmastown. Stone Mountain in Georgia sets up a lot of light displays around the mountain at Christmas for the train ride and also usually has Christmas carols playing over the speakers for people to sing along. If you get people on the train in the right spirit, it's a lot of fun with everybody singing along. If they time the trains right, the carols are also in sync to the light displays as the train passes by.

i think you'll eventually see the train's path become heavily decorated at some point but this event is still very young and takes time for it to grow. just look at HOS's first year and compare it to now. im sure this year you will see the same for the train since the expansion this year will be for italy.

There will be some christmas town tours as well this year. I've done the roller coaster insider and the HOS all access, so I imagine I'll probably be doing one of these christmas town tours also.

The train as a Christmas Town attraction really would be great. I do hope they implement that as soon as they can. But unlike they used to do with the HOS train, I would hope it could still be used for transport and stop at all 3 stations -- so just have the scenes out along the route, maybe going past them very slowly, but still allow people to get on/off at all 3 stops. With only one station and the requirement to ride the whole route, the line was always horrendous when it was a HOS attraction.

And speaking of the carols, when we rode the train at CT everyone was spontaneously singing along. I'm guessing that happened much of the time??? Anybody have a group that DIDN'T sing? It was fun.

CHRISTMAS TOWN 2010 OPENS IN 44 DAYS!!! :D

I can't wait! It's going to be one amazing event! I'm still hoping for a christmas town CD:)

That would be amazing. I'd listen to it year-round. :)

I can tell you two songs they play at christmas town.

These 2 are played at the main gate, england, and the north pole at rhinefeld.

"Spirit Of The Season" - Alvan Silvestri from the Polar Express Soundtrack

and

"The Bells of Christmas" - Loreena McKennitt

Hope you enjoy em! :)
