RE: BGW's Facebook Page

The park announced on their Facebook on 10-19 that the Travel Channel will be shooting a special and if guests wear costumes they could be in the shot. At the time, it was very confusing because their policy clearly states no costumes, masks, or anything of that kind.

No costumes are allowed at Busch Gardens. Our post on Facebook yesterday suggesting that guests should wear costumes, including costume clothing, face paint, masks or other themed attire, at Busch Gardens tonight is inaccurate and should be disregarded. We made a mistake. The park has a long-standing policy that prohibits the wearing of costumes at any time during the year. We apologize for any inconvenience this posting may have caused. Please be aware that any guest wearing a costume to the park will be turned away at the front gate.

EDIT: I'm guessing, judging by the time they posted this, that they had no clue they had made this mistake until people started showing up at the gates in costumes, then having to turn them away. Par for the course this season.

RE: BGW's Facebook Page

They better be giving anyone who showed up in costume a ton of free stuff. In other news, there's an entire social media team plus a whole marketing department. How did all those people manage to miss this?

RE: BGW's Facebook Page

The truth being the park's no costume policy revealed!

" Really all they are trying to do is keep juggalos out with their faces painted."

Yes, it's a conspiracy against juggalos. If you don't know what a juggalo is, consider yourself lucky.

RE: BGW's Facebook Page

My sources stated very clearly that the IT Department is the one that updates and responds to guests on their social media channels, while the PR Department gives the IT Department guidelines and scripts of what to post. The error occurred by PR telling IT that the Travel Channel was doing a special, and then IT posted that, but added the costume part and obviously the person who posted did not know the costume rule clearly.

RE: BGW's Facebook Page

Here's a question: what constitutes a costume? I mean, if you're lacking the tell-tale rubber mask, what separates a costume from a fashion statement?

Face paint? What woman isn't wearing at least some?

Crazy hair? In my teenage years, mine was been every color of the rainbow.

Dressing "like" something? Most people aren't fashion trailblazers. We're almost all dressing "like" something else.

This isn't a post trying to make a social point...I'm just trying to figure out how they discern between a costume and clothes.

RE: BGW's Facebook Page

But aren't we all just costumes of our selves?

I think it's a pretty clear the difference between an emo teen and somebody dressed up as Iron Man. It's all about degrees.

RE: BGW's Facebook Page

The park reached capacity about an hour ago. People are already crying about it expecting BGW to magically fix it. One particular poster expects them to put up signs along 64. smdh

Brandy McCarty You douchebags could have posted that an hour ago before people wasted gas driving up there. And how about putting the signs up on the interstate (not at the parking toll booths) telling people so they don't bother getting off 64 and getting stuck in traffic trying to turn around.

RE: BGW's Facebook Page

"IT IS VERY DISENCOURAGING TO COME TO A THEME PARK AND SIT IN LINE FOR 3 HOURS TO BE TOLD FULL TO CAPACITY. BUT RIDE BY AND STILL SE PEOPLE RIDING TRAMS TO GET IN . I HOPE YOU DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS BECAUSE SOON A COMPLAINT BLOG IS OING TO START."

Be careful guys, this lady has a blog.

RE: BGW's Facebook Page

Let's all play BGW FB Mad Libs!

"I have been a pass member for (number of years) and spent (inflated amount of money) at the park over that time. I was recently at the park and (something happen that was in line with park proceedures or has been going on in the park for a while) and were upset) and we won't be coming back again! We'll take our money to (crappier theme park with same or worse issues)"

RE: BGW's Facebook Page

"YO WHY YALL CLOSED? I BE IN SITTING ON THE ROAD IN DIS TRAFFIC. I GET ON FACEBOOK AND YOU SAID YOU REACH CAPACITY. WHY DA HELL THAT MEAN? WHY DIDN YOU TELL US THAT BFOR? I AGREE WID DAT BRANDY GIRL. PUT SOME SIGNS UP ON 64 SO THAT DOSE OF US WHO ARE GOING KNOW IF THE PARK IS CLOSED OR NOT. YOU SHOULD TELL US DIS THINGS. IM GOING TO PUT YOU IN DA COMPLAINT BLOG."

RE: BGW's Facebook Page

"I get that this is an Adult activity. But I brought my 6 year old who loves all things scary - or did until tonight when a freak show clown tonight bent down and got within 2 feet of his face. Not appropriate. Not necessary. And not cool. We won't be back and I want 4 season passes refunded. Who should I address this with?"

Tonight's pretty awesome.

What if I just like Iron Man? I'm dressed. I'm dressed like Iron Man.

And what if I were wearing a Tony Stark costume...so I just looked like a dude in a suit? I'd get in. But I'd be wearing a costume.

It's a stupid rule because there's no way of telling who's wearing a costume. Lots of characters on TV and in film look like normal people. But if I dressed like them, I'd be wearing a costume, and not turned away. So simply saying "no costumes" is a dumb way to put it. Some people with costumes would get in, and some people with costumes wouldn't.

Word it differently. "No costumes" is goofy.

RE: BGW's Facebook Page

If you go to the main gate in a full suit of armor, you're probably in a costume. The thing about it is that they can pick out costumes that might confuse the GP as to who are employees who are supposed to scare you and somebody who is not, and that's kind of important to do during HoS. You probably won't see any scare actors in business suits. Once again, it's all about degrees.
