So how come they are sticking to the old school weld connections instead of the more normalish bolt connectors to each track piece?
In and out of the helix for sure. Those two transitions, due to pre computer assistance in design. If anything gets majorly reprofiled I sincerely hope its the transition between the exit from the cave into the 2nd lift. To me that is always the most bone jarring jankiest part of the ride.
Doubt it will be year but it wouldn't surprise me to a 6 month period blocked out for it. Especially during winter time when bad weather can cause delays.Dumb question. Is this something they could get done over the winter, or does something like this take an entire year?
I can imagine them getting a decent part of the work done during the off-season. At least it won't be too disruptive (Nessie isn't open during the winter anyway.)Dumb question. Is this something they could get done over the winter, or does something like this take an entire year?
They were for the 40th so 2018 but do get rebuilt yearlyIf I remember correctly, the new trains came in 2017. They get rebuilt every year.
If BGW had any brains they would really re-vamp the cave and market it with a "whats in the cave" campaign.I'm glad this ride is getting the love it needs instead of being outright replaced. It was my first ever looping coaster. Part of me wonders if this is partially a response to Grizzly's successful retrack at KD. Regardless, I do hope the theming is stepped up a bit here. I'm not expecting a full-size Nessie animatronic (though that would be nice lol), but an old wrecked ship somewhere in the layout and at least a pair of glowing eyes during the cave sequence would be cool.
Just happened to look at the publicly viewable reaction on this and WOW is all I can say. Hopefully someone at BGW is paying attention and follows up with the appropriate level of updates and coverage.
It’s not don’t come now, come later; it’s buy a pass now and give us your money for something you can’t experience until much later.Ride announcements are weird anyway, since they say don't come now, come later. In this case, the people that care a lot already know.
As an enthusiast myself, it also kind of influences trips for me as well. For instance if SWO and BGT rumors were a BIG addition instead of family coasters (SWO’s looks REALLY fun btw), I would consider eliminating the day at SWO and the train ride to Tampa and change our flight home that’s departing Tampa back to Orlando when we go to universal in November. The purpose of marketing is not to inform enthusiasts. It is to get everyone else exited enough to plan trips (before and after) and possibly buy passes.
