Blue train was running at 9:45 this morning. After opening they parked it and used the red train. Green train ran after 1pm. I talked with one of the engineers and he said they are working on blue trains certification. It needs 20 more hours of operation before it is certified. It still has a way to go and they are hoping it is back carrying people mid to late summer

This makes a lot of sense. The trains don't take humans until 11ish.. so if they can run it for an hour a day, in 20 days it can meet that part of certification.

According to my sources, Blue ran over night for one night 2 weeks ago and has been running from about 7 or 8am until 10am every day since Friday. The mechanics have been running it until this weekend and now the regular engineers are driving to familiarize themselves with the controls. It needs to run a total of 24 hours and is somewhere about 12 to 14 hours at this point. Though the park opens at 10am, mechanics start working at about 3 or 4am. So they can get lots of hours on the Blue train rather quickly.

Today I asked one of the engineers about the status of the Balmore Castle. He said it's passed all of the certifications and believes it should be in use next week. He said that basically they are just putting the finishing touches on it. Attached is one photo I was able to get. On the other shot of the Alpen Express I seen that silver box on the side that I don't remember seeing. I went up and asked about it and the engineer said it is an emergency fuel shut off and also an electronic ignition system so that someone doesn't have to go into the fire box with a blow torch to light it off. He said it was put on in November last year.

Interesting that they didn't either paint the box or locate it somewhere else where it's not as visible. Good for them to add some safety measures though!

Well, seeing as he hadn't had all of the lining in a while, I kind of was expecting him to go in without the lining. I'm just surprised the number plate on the cab isn't on there. Whatever way, I'm just really happy that he's back in service.

I kinda thought it would be a she.

Maybe I'll start calling it a they, or request a preferred pronoun from the park. Gotta get my perspective aligned with the times.
