Rode the train today to get a photo of the work done so far, it looks pretty bare still.

FYI. I was talking to a station employee tonight and they said the park just decided to keep the same setup for Christmastown and only do round trips again this year.

That station employee is misinformed. According to my sources it is still undecided but they are leaning towards doing that again. Multiple departments were not happy with the train not stopping at the other locations and they do not want it to run that way again. That being said as Zachary said it might be necessary to skip Festa but I'm not sure it would be. The only construction they would do to effect the station is work on the bridge and the train couldn't stop at the station then I doubt the train could even pass through the station.

Personally for me, from the standpoint of an attraction, I think the ride makes most sense as a round trip as 95% of the riders are going to want to see the whole display.

I noticed what looked like some sort or new concrete pad on the right side of the tracks just before the Rhine Bridge, it also appears to be new fence posts there. I would imagine a lengthy railway closure once construction starts.

My guess would be that the park will attempt to do everything they can to avoid shutting down the train on operating days. This is what they did for Invadr

I doubt it will be an issue. The bridge can almost certainly be built in the off season and during the week next spring. The rest of the site can be reached without closing the railroad

I'm going to venture that they will do everything they can to avoid having the train closed including overnight work and offseason work.

I don’t think there will be an extended closure like is happening in Disney. But I can see anyting from a day here and there to a few weeks at a time happening.

The only reason that Disney and BGT had to close is because they are open every day. If they had a similar schedule up BGW they would most likely have avoided the lengthy closes. It also possible that due to the amount work that there would have been some closures still but we would be looking at a week or two.

When Disney shut down the trains, they did something I think was pretty cool. They held a show-and-tell with Engineers showing folks how the engine worked. I know a lot of kids (of all ages) that would love to climb aboard.

When the train was down after the fire I thought about how if they did the same thing it would be really cool. At Didney getting to peek inside and ringing the bell was really fun. You also learn quite a bit about the history and specs of the train.

We saw something similar happening at what was presumably the Railroad Insider Tour. We sat for at least 15/30 minutes at Caribou Station, while people chatted with the engineers and wandered around the train.

From The Disney Tourist blog - Disney announced that the Walt Disney World Railroad will temporarily pause operations, with trains “parked” at Main Street Station beginning on December 3, 2018. During this time, Magic Kingdom guests will be able to get an up-close look at the railroad and partake in unique photo opportunities.

An Engineer or two, team member for crowd control and maybe a special set of steps/ramp & platform for guests to stand on to look/maybe get inside.

We have done this a few times since it’s been closed late last year. You can’t get in but you can lean pretty far. There is always a engineer there who really gives you a detailed tour if your interested. Other than that you can sit in the rail cars and take photos. If you ask they will even let you ring the bell. It’s really a great opportunity to get some great photos and a up close look at the train. Busch Gardens could easily do this and it would be a great experience for everyone. 15282
