The 'coaches' on the green train are from one of KD's defunct trains...

I thought the train from Kings Dominion went to Busch Gardens Tampa. The Alpen Express was from a defunct park, Lakeside Park in Salem, VA?

Or at least that is what I thought.

You are kind-of correct...Of KD's 2 complete trains, 1 train went to Dry Gulch as a complete train. The 2nd train was split up and the engine went to Tampa, the coaches to Williamsburg.

Edit...BTW, the train from Salem WAS one of the trains from KD. They only had it for a year.

Okay I was slightly confused, I wonder why they split the last train?

I am completely backwards and wrong. I really don't like giving false information so click here and read a couple paragraphs for the correct history. Sorry.

I'm not sure this is the correct location, but what is going on in the area adjacent to the tracks (right side) just past the Rhine River Trestle? The hillsides near the second Drachen Fire building are covered with survey stakes.

Well, if they are planning a large addition for 2016, planning and preparations would be beginning now. I'll call it 'interesting'. It is most likely erosion control o_O

#SpainConfirmed
When I rode the train on the sixth of April I noticed the area to be quite active with several offical looking employees in the area. Of course they were going into the Drachen Fire maintenance bay so it was most likely for the Tempesto ad. It seems kind of pointless to put a station in the very back of Festhaus Park as you would walk past the green Verbolten warehouse and buildings restricted to the public. I imagine it could be for trees or maybe more of erosion project.

The stakes appeared during 2014 Howl-O-Scream. I've been waiting to see what might happen with them. I was hoping they had something to do with a reported balloon test last fall at the rear of the park.

The stakes are likely from the Germany train station testing. They tested the trains to see if they can start and stop in that location. They have found that not every train can start and stop there without assistance.

They likely mean nothing now.

what is the function of the 2 extra rails in the middle of the track on the tressels? is it for stability. Im guessing there are not extra wheels in the middle of the train.

Awwwww cute couple on the Busch Gardens Railway.

In railroad use, guard rails are placed parallel to regular running rail along areas of restrictive clearance, such as a bridge, trestle, or tunnel. These have the effect of keeping the wheels of rolling stock in alignment in case of derailment. It also helps to minimize damage to the structure and allow easier post-accident cleanup.

Whelp, I guess I should just come out and leak it.

Today, Busch Gardens Williamsburg's red train derailed behind Das Festhaus and DarKastle and was subsequently evacuated. As of this evening, as far as I know, the train is still stuck between the Festa and Caribou stations.

This is still a developing story and I'll post more if/when I can.

If you know anything about the incident or can put me in contact with anyone who does, don't hesitate to contact me whether you have info I can post or not- every little bit helps behind the scenes.
