When I was in kindergarten many years ago, my half-day bus driver was a conductor at the park. Ron, I believe. He would give us pennies that were flattened on the rails.

I found a retro picture of what I assume to be Balmoral Castle with a different paint job and named "Queen Victoria's Train".

If they had slapped a yellow three on it an changed the name to "Thomas the Tank Engine" I'd be in love.

Quite honestly, the light blue just seemed a bit too light. I think the darker blue looks nicer.

Ever wonder why the Alpen Express had snow on it's front for a few years?

Well to promote Alpengeist they renamed the "Alpen Express" to the "Alpengeist Express".

Does anybody know anything else about this?

The green train is the youngest of the three trains, starting it's run in 1996. It is unique in being the only of the three trains with a caboose and it does not have five cars like the other two trains.

So, if Alpen Express began its run in 1996, and Alpengeist opened in 1997, I wonder if the train actually opened as "Alpengeist Express" and was given its current name after it had served its term promoting the coaster. I'd never thought of it that way before...

That's why it says opening in 1997 on the train! But then you have the question of did they start putting the train in operation?
