RE: Concerts 2013

1. Weird Al is still pretty popular.
2. Brono Mars is too expensive for the park, plus it'll be about as packed as the Victoria Justice concert was if not worse. I'm pretty sure the park has the money to fund A-list pop stars to play their concerts (they did build Verbolten didn't they?), but they're better off spending their money in other places.

Just because you hear an artist frequently doesn't mean their popular. Popularity should be measured by how many individuals like an artist.

Yes it does. Just because Justin Bieber has a lot of haters doesn't make him any less popular because he still has a ton of fans. His music is still played on the radio (unfortunately) and he does collabs with other big-name artists. Same goes for Bruno Mars.

but at least they could use Festhaus park again instead of RPT. I think you can cram more people back there.

I agree with this. The setting back there was much more peaceful and IMO handled large crowds much better, including the line that forms before the gates open. But during a time when the park is finding ways to save money where it can, letting a fully built concert stage sit idle while you pay for a temporary one to be constructed somewhere else isn't a smart business move.

RE: Concerts 2013

Weird Al, Still popular... But Certainly more achievable in terms of booking them for a show than say... Bruno Mars.

Basically, The park hasn't really booked anyone that I wouldn't be able to book for a show believe it or not. Whether or not I have the money to do so is another thing, But when you start talking about people like Bruno/Beyonce/Red Hot Chili Peppers just for example not just ANYONE can even submit a proposal. If you don't have a name or exuberant amount of money you won't even get into the "front lobby" so to speak. Busch has the money yes, but in terms of Star-Scale.... What would it be for these guys to book a themepark show that is "beneath their level" so to speak... Again, unless the park really wants to fork over a crazy amount, it's a charity show, or for some reason the star decides to cut them a favor... But their managers, their booking agent. They probably wouldn't even let these guys become aware of this show, cause in the end it might end up hurting their wallet. If someone working at Busch personally had ties to these guys it'd be a different story, but even still what Busch is offering simply isn't worth it... If it was a traditional concert experience and Busch had an arena It'd be worth it... But in the end It's just not worth anyone's time or effort, and believe me it wouldn't be worth the time or effort or money for Busch to do this. I mean, the cost for these guy's riders probably cost more than what busch is shelling out currently for artist...

Do I believe Busch should maybe pump some more money into their artist budget? YES. That they can do... Get more popular and current artist. But, do I think Busch should be shooting for Bruno? No... I think it's a horrible idea from a business perspective. They are a themepark entity. They aren't looking to cash in off these concerts, other than creating more of a draw to their mainstays which is coasters and concessions... Bruno is just not someone you book unless you want to show off to your friends how you shelled out 2 million and talked to all your contacts in the industry to get him to play at your spoiled daughters sweet 16... Or make a million or two bucks going through the headache of booking him into a tour in your city if you are a credible multi-million dollar concert promoter.

LOL!!!!!

How about adding Marilyn Manson as the open act just like the show they played at the Hampton Coliseum in the mid-90s!?!?!

The park will have a whole new feel to it that day!

This is an interesting comment. Can someone explain to me why DO they keep the RPT around if they can serve the same purpose with an already-existing multi-purpose facility at the back of the park? It seems like a fairly large waste of space in a valuable area, and they could most likely find another home for the penguins [the Griffon splash pool, perhaps? :)]. Combine the RPT space with the land behind it up to the railroad tracks and you are suddenly talking about fairly large amount of space to work with.

HOS themed concerts to boost the historically slower weekends of Howl o Scream...

I can name PLENTY of bands that would be worth the cost to bring in.

I would imagine that since the Royal Palace Theater is set-up to be an ampitheater for concerts or large productions, this woud be why they use it. Sure an empty field can fit more people but they have to rent a stage and if not at least own a temp one, then put it up and take it down every so often. I think it would probably be better for costs financially to use something that is already set up.

I see no need to relocate the Ice Palace. The name goes hand in hand with the regular season name, and the theme fits perfectly as is. Plus the space for the backstage area for the RPT is very valuable. As small as it is, it can house a full haunted house and a walk-through animal exhibit. Think of the possibilities. I see no reason why they should remove/replace their HoS and CT attractions. However, I would like to see them add the silent macabre movies to the theater so while your in line waiting, you can watch movies, at least during HoS.

I think that it could be very beneficial to expand the Royal Palace Theater into the bull pit; it would increase the capacity of the theater as well as making improvements to the technical aspects such as light rigging, follow spot locations, etc. Perhaps they can try adding a mesh roof, kind of more or less like what used to be there. A roof can be very useful -cough- rained out concerts -cough- I think renovating the RPT is a much more solid idea rather than building a whole new complex.
