RE: Concerts 2013

I hope they do a few more rock shows such as Adelitas Way or Trapt.

I can see BGW getting some more American Idol winners such as Scotty McCreary or Phillip Phillips. McCreary is huge in North Carolina and he would be a big draw.

I'm not going to lie, I'd pay good money to see Midnight Syndicate live. Wasn't there talk that they could do a live show at Universal's HHN?
It would be interesting. Along the lines of a Trans-Siberian Orchestra for Christmas, only it's Halloween!
Anyone know if they have actually performed live/toured before?

RE: Concerts 2013

I really enjoyed the newer groups at BGW last year! I really hope they continue with that and use newer groups this year too!! :) Does anyone know yet? :)

RE: Concerts 2013

The best time I ever had in the Summer Concert Series was when they had the Bangles, The Fixx, and the B52s. I'm a sucker for 80s bands. I would like to see another iconic 80's band like Heart (touring now). I suppose Cyndi Lauper would be too big name but I love her music (the acoustic version of Time after Time is amazing). Foreigner and Bryan Adams are also touring so they could technically add a concert to their list. What can I say.. I grew up in a roller-rink listening to 70's and 80s music.

Today, I prefer Indie bands like Modest Mouse, The Strokes, Arcade Fire, and the Pixies. The other bands I enjoy like Mumford & Sons are way out of the theme park league of possibilities. The problem is how to stay "family friendly" with music groups and still have edgy artists.

The last concert I actually wanted to see at the park was Pat Benetar and she canceled due to the stupid hurricane.

Hopefully this year is a great year for music that covers all ages and groups and not just tweens. Fingers crossed!

I wish that they would have newer and older artists come. I liked going to the 80's concerts and reliving memories. Now they have newer groups that aren't my taste. They need to not only focus on the teens, but also the adults. One way that they could do that is bring back oktoberfest, but hey, who wants to listen to fun German music? I would much rather listen to songs for a 4 year old and watch terrible acting. I think we can all agree on that. :p

Last year they announced the shows at the end of February. I also prefer the older groups. Having one or two newer groups a year is ok, but the ones they had last year are not my type of new group.

RE: Concerts 2013

I like all the idea of having mostly newer groups... Just not the likes of teeny bopper punk and rock bands and nickelodeon stars...

You know I'd love to see bands like Lacuna Coil, Queens of the stone age... I mentioned in 1st page in this thread that I'm surprised they haven't taken advantage of the current electronic dance music trend... I'd love to help out with that ;).

Quote from the parks website.

Busch Gardens® heats up the stage with sizzling concerts from some of today's hottest performing artists, including: pop, classic, rock and country. As always, the concerts are included with park admission.

As of now they are advertising a variety of genres.

Apparently Tampa gets this:

"Enjoy live performances from award–winning rock artists: John Kay & Steppenwolf, Barenaked Ladies, The Doobie Brothers and Goo Goo Dolls."

What is BGW gonna get?!?
