Speaking of stamped concrete getting re-painted, Banbury Cross had a lot of stamped concrete that desperately needed to be painted last year, I hope it was part of that group.

Thanks Griffon for the information!

How much work/completed things do you think we will see this weekend?

you will see a new roof on the emporium…and a freshly painted deck behind the fudge shop…you'll notice throughout the park there have been sections of concrete replaced.  A lot of the stamped concrete sections have been repainted.  Killarney looks great.
Well, at least that was an improvement.

According to my contact, that has seen the site plans, it will be very similar to the old Pepsi Market that is next to Alpengeist. What that means exactly, I do not know.
Do you mean this shop?

The reason why most of the stamped concrete needs repainting so often is the driving. When they constantly have service vehicles driving throughout the place, the paint fades and wears away a lot quicker. Banbury Cross used to be painted quite frequently. Personally, I remember smelling fresh paint in Banbury Cross a lot. Last season, they tried to put a stop to having service vehicles in Banbury Cross, but come Howl-o-Scream entertainment had to come in.

I am assuming it will be similar in setup to that. A wall lined with the glass door refrigerators, a wall lined with freestyle machines, and then some separate spots for cash registers. I am hoping they will sell a variety of snacks as well like pork shanks ;) popcorn, churros, cotton candy, ice cream, you know the regular stuff.

That is upsetting. If it is exclusively drinks, it won't get nearly as much people as it would have with snacks. Drinks are nice but people tend to buy snacks and get drinks as an afterthought.

Actually, I tend to buy drinks and almost never get snacks. In fact, an Icee will fill me up as much as food. Thinking about it, none of my girlfriends snack in the park; it is very bad for one's waistline.

My husband likes to grab a Coke Zero on the way out of the park, since we have an hour drive to get back to Virginia Beach. So, a Coke Mart will be great for us, as long as it doesn't look modern.

Hmm, I will say whenever I have long drives I do like to get a cold soda before I head off. While I do typically go to get refills and the such, I still feel more compelled to get a drink if I had food. If I don't have food, I'm typically not thirsty (hot days excluded).

Yes, my contact was referring to that shop. I haven't seen the site plans with my own eyes but that is the shop she was referring to. I do find it interesting that when the park switched to Coke that that shop wasn't rebranded as a Coke shop instead of just "Ski Shop."

A good friend of mine who works at the park says the area has been blocked off lately.only the construction crews allowed in...very odd if there isnt a retheme/refurb...

They blocked off the area where the new Italy deck was being built as well back when it was being built. Due to the actual amount of construction work still planned, I am not surprised. It was probably turned into a hard hat only area or something along those lines.

Remember, they are still planning on changing the look of the hamlet. It may not be as major as was originally stated, but a lot of work is still planned irregardless.
