Yeah, they used to have onboard audio and working headlights. I assume the trains have had all onboard electrical/battery-required components stripped out of them now?

A real, proper renovation of any of the Backlots could have some incredible additions. Hopefully one day such a thing comes to all of them.

This video shows the onboard audio and other effects from the Paramount days. I wouldn't be surprised if the onboard audio and some of the other effects were just immediately axed by CF, and have never even operated under CF (now that I think of it, does CF even have a single coaster with onboard audio?)

All of that was removed when they dethemed the trains from Minis.

Depends. If you count Wonder's Mountain Guardian as a coaster, then yes.

People have been talking about a safari chase retheme for 15+ years. Not happening. Kings Dominion would've done that years ago it it were in the cards.

Jungle X massively turned the Backlot retheme question on its head. There may have been rumors prior to Jungle X, but since Jungle X, Kings Dominion has fully rethemed two coasters, a flat ride, and multiple eateries and shops. I think it's obviously far more likely to occur in the not-so-distant future than it was 15 years ago.

I’m not one to judge a ride by its looks, but backlot is prob the ugliest coaster I’ve ever seen. Especially with the contrast of jungle x.

They're probably just trying to keep it looking as presentable as possible for the 50th anniversary, even if they didn't have the time/money to retheme the ride this year. If they get the return on investment that they're hoping for this year from Rapterra and everything else, I fully expect them to do the Backlot retheme next year, especially since it'll be Backlot's 20th anniversary.

I think it's likely we'll see Backlot removed sooner than some think. I think it'd be smart to pull the plug on Backlot if/when a new family coaster is added to the Snoopy area. Just my idea!

Backlot is younger and more reliable than FoF so I doubt it gets removed first.

I love Backlot Stunt Coaster, really hope it doesn't get removed anytime soon. In fact, I hope it gets a retheme so I can buy merch for it since I've never seen a BSC shirt around the park.

Backlot at KI really surprised me. The launch out of the station directly into the helix is way more fun than I expected any part of the ride to be.

Other than Pantherian, BSC is the only other ride in the park that's made me grey out before as crazy as it sound.

Billboards already done. Looks good although didn't think about theme relation.

Ok, controversial opinion, but can at least SOME people agree that while Backlot is still a decent ride, it is HELLA ugly? I mean, just the sight of that pit of rocks with that black coaster track on top and metal walls all around next to jungle X-Pedition just looks repulsive.

Back in my young days I used to think KD should’ve given Backlot a big refurbishment. Fix the helicopter and fire effects etc. Nowadays I’d show a video of the ride to a friend and they’d say, “is that a DUMP??” Today I couldn’t agree with them more.

Just getting rid of the parking deck structure and all of the billboards would go a long way. Literally the bare minimum amount of effort to get rid of the italian job theme would be wonderful.

Even so, there’s no way they’re doing this as an isolated project. Fully believe it will remain the same as it is today until they replace anaconda

I agree about the billboards—I really wish the park would just demo them now—but I want the parking structure to survive because it's a GREAT canvas for the theoretical Jungle X retheme. Could see many good directions they could take that element in.

I know, everyone wants BSC rethemed.

Here's my shot at it. y'all on a romp on a jeep through the woods, and the show scene is an illegal something (going with poaching) camp you come across; you can have some voice lines play something to the effect of "Hey, we've never seen this before.." "Who is it... are they... poachers?" "We should get back to the base camp and let so-and-so know about this!" "Oh no, I think someone's coming, lets get outta here!"

Can set up future attractions to expand that story a bit.

Does mean they'd probably have to remove a bunch of rock, make the section after the ascending helix more terrain like and add a bunch of trees, somehow. Maybe use Bamboo so it feels more jungly?
